TV Special
Description
Nico Robin fulfills the role of archaeologist aboard the Straw Hat Pirates, originating from the island of Ohara. She became an archaeologist at eight years old and stands as Ohara’s sole survivor after the World Government annihilated it. This tragedy left her with the rare ability to decipher Poneglyphs—ancient stones holding forbidden historical secrets, including the locations of devastating weapons. For this knowledge, authorities branded her the "Devil Child" and issued her first bounty of 79,000,000 Berries at age eight; she later earned the epithet "Light of the Revolution."

She consumed the Hana Hana no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit granting power to manifest duplicates of her body parts—eyes, ears, limbs, or full clones—on any surface within range. This ability facilitates remote perception and intricate combat maneuvers. Following Ohara’s destruction, she lived as a fugitive and eventually joined Baroque Works as its vice president under the alias "Miss All Sunday." She allied with Crocodile during the Arabasta conflict before joining the Straw Hat Pirates.

The TV special *Episode of Merry: The Tale of One More Friend* spotlights her Water 7 and Enies Lobby arc, particularly her surrender to the World Government’s assassin group CP9 to shield the crew from retaliation. Her capture ignites the crew’s assault on Enies Lobby. The narrative climaxes with her emotional plea, "I want to live!"—marking her acceptance of life and trust in her crew. In response, the Straw Hats declare war on the World Government to reclaim her.

Told through Usopp and Chopper’s flashback aboard the Thousand Sunny, the special streamlines the Enies Lobby arc, concentrating on Robin’s rescue and the farewell to their ship, Going Merry. Her bond with Merry subtly reflects her embrace of belonging, as the ship’s funeral symbolizes crew unity and loss. Updated animation revisits her sacrifice and the crew’s resolve, anchoring the emotional weight in her desperate appeal to live.

Robin exhibits a reserved, analytical demeanor, frequently offering historical context or grim observations. Initially enigmatic and self-reliant, her time with the Straw Hats cultivates deeper loyalty and emotional vulnerability. Her dream is to uncover the true history within the Rio Poneglyph, distinct from the ancient weapons it references.
