She consistently becomes Tatsuo Nagumo's girlfriend across all media and ultimately gives birth to the Chōjin. In the manga, Akemi is a junior high school student characterized by sexual adventurousness and lechery. She develops a rivalry with Amano Megumi for Nagumo's affections.

The anime, including *Kanketsu-hen*, depicts Akemi as a young, innocent, and naive university student at Myōjin University. There, she is idolized and participates in the gymnastics club.
