Description
Osamu Miya is a second-year student at Inarizaki High and the twin brother of Atsumu Miya. He appears in Haikyu!! To The Top as a wing spiker for Inarizaki's boys' volleyball team, one of the strongest teams Karasuno faces at the national tournament. At seventeen years old and 183 centimeters tall, he is a physically imposing attacker who serves as a reliable scoring complement to his brother's playmaking.

Personality-wise, Osamu comes across as the calmer and more laid-back of the Miya twins, often speaking in a flat, deadpan manner. This relaxed exterior hides a highly competitive nature, and he can become frustrated or fired up even when his expression does not show it. Only his brother Atsumu is able to push him to the point of genuine anger, and when provoked enough, Osamu can become physical and lose his usual filter. He is also deeply passionate about food, frequently thinking about meals during matches, getting distracted by the smell of food, and struggling to pick a favorite dish.

Osamu's motivation in volleyball comes from a combination of familial rivalry and a desire to prove himself on his own terms. While he and Atsumu are a famously dangerous duo, Osamu wants to be recognized as more than just one half of the Miya twins. His role on the court is to score consistently and support Inarizaki's powerful offense, using precise spikes, smart positioning, and strong teamwork. His adaptability allows him to adjust to different match situations, and his ability to coordinate with Atsumu makes their twin combination especially difficult for opponents to defend.

The relationship between Osamu and Atsumu is the most significant one in his story. It is marked by constant bickering, competition, and occasional physical arguments, but also by mutual respect and an understanding developed through years of playing together. Osamu also has a close bond with his teammates and is regarded for his level-headed approach, which balances Atsumu's more expressive personality on and off the court.

Over the course of the story, particularly during Inarizaki's high-stakes matches, Osamu shows growth as a player and as an individual. He becomes more confident in his own abilities and learns to use his differences from Atsumu to strengthen the team's overall performance. While he begins the arc somewhat in his brother's shadow, he ultimately carves out his own identity as a dependable attacker and a key part of Inarizaki's success.
