Description
Nozomi Tojo is a third-year student at Otonokizaka High School and a member of the school idol group μ's. She served as the student council vice-president under Eli Ayase, succeeded later by Umi Sonoda. Due to her parents' frequent moves for work, Nozomi lived alone to stay at Otonokizaka. This transient childhood fostered shyness and a lack of friends until she met Eli, her first friend. Her background explains her reliance on fortune-telling with tarot cards to adapt to new environments and connect with others.
Nozomi speaks in a Kansai dialect, adopted during her time in Akihabara to align with her interest in the supernatural, despite not originating from the region. In the manga continuity, she was the sole member of the Supernatural Phenomenon Research Society instead of being part of the student council. She exhibits a serene, wise demeanor, acting as a spiritual guide for μ's and often providing advice during challenges. Her personality includes a mischievous side; she playfully gropes other members' breasts—termed "washi washi"—to cheer them up or enforce discipline, with Nico Yazawa as her most frequent target.
Her role in μ's is pivotal. She covertly supported Honoka Kōsaka's group from the start, helping them navigate Eli's initial opposition. After Eli joined μ's, Nozomi followed, driven by her desire to create lasting bonds with friends. She named the group "μ's" (Muse) after the nine Greek goddesses, foreseeing the members' eventual unity. As the eldest member, she functions as a strategic and emotional anchor, mediating conflicts and fostering cohesion, notably helping Maki Nishikino integrate with the group.
Nozomi's development centers on overcoming loneliness. Season 2, Episode 8 reveals her past isolation and how forming μ's fulfilled her wish for meaningful connections. She cherishes the group's friendships as a "miracle," reflecting her growth from a reserved transfer student to a confident idol who values collective bonds above all. Her leadership extends to the subunit Lily White, where she performs alongside Umi and Rin.
Physically, she has hip-length dark purple hair styled in two low pigtails, turquoise eyes, and a slim figure. Her measurements are bust 90 cm, waist 60 cm, and hips 82 cm, with her bust often noted as a charm point. Her image color is violet, reflected in her penlight and signature aesthetic.
Her hobbies include fortune-telling, napping, and volunteering at Kanda Shrine. She enjoys spiritual practices like visiting "power spots" and dislikes caramel, favoring yakiniku (grilled meat). In side stories, she expresses whimsical wishes, such as all nine μ's members living together in one house, with Eli as the "father" and herself as the "mother."
Across official media, including the *Love Live! The School Idol Movie*, she remains a stabilizing force post-graduation. Spin-offs like *Nisekoi: All Imagin Riders Destiny* position her as a tritagonist, though specific developmental arcs outside the main series are minimally documented.
