Description
Honoka Kosaka is a second-year student at Otonokizaka High School. Her family runs a traditional Japanese sweets shop, Homura, situated near Akihabara. She lives above the shop with her parents and younger sister, Yukiho. Both her grandmother and mother are Otonokizaka alumnae. Honoka has been close friends with Kotori Minami since early childhood, a bond inherited from their mothers' friendship. She befriended Umi Sonoda during a game of hide-and-seek. At school, she is friends with classmates Fumiko, Hideko, and Mika.

Her personality combines relentless optimism, infectious energy, and intuitive action. Once set on a goal, she pursues it with unwavering determination, often pushing to physical exhaustion. This drive led her to found the school idol group μ's after seeing A-RISE perform, aiming to boost enrollment and save Otonokizaka. As μ's leader, she frequently takes the center position and later leads the subunit Printemps. She inspires others through enthusiasm and positivity, though her impulsiveness sometimes strains the group, such as when neglecting Kotori's attempt to discuss studying abroad caused conflict. After temporarily quitting μ's over this, she reconciled, showing capacity for growth.

In her second year, she becomes student council president following Eli Ayase. This role coincides with growing maturity, learning to balance fervor with consideration. For instance, she organizes group activities to ease the impact of μ's disbandment after the third years graduate. Her development culminates in the movie, where she accepts the dissolution as necessary for school idol culture's future, focusing efforts on a final performance.

Physically slim and 157 cm tall, she has distinctive orange-brown hair usually styled in a side ponytail, originally crafted by Kotori. Her image color is orange, though stage outfits often feature pink. Outside idols, she enjoys swimming, collecting stickers, and eating bread and strawberries, despite her family's profession. She dislikes red bean paste, white bean paste, and bell peppers. A noted skill is finding money on the street, which she attributes to luck. The manga shows her in the kendo club with Umi before forming μ's, achieving tournament success.

In spin-offs like *School Idol Festival All Stars*, she engages with newer idol groups. Her foundational role in μ's and her belief that "someday you will be able to become who you want to be" highlight her influence.
