Marieve Herington
Description
Marieve Herington is a Canadian-American actress and singer known for her extensive work in voice-over for animation, anime, and video games. Born on February 22, 1988, in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, she began her career in entertainment at a young age, joining the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) when she was only nine years old after appearing in commercials for Canadian Tire and KFC. She studied drama at the University of Toronto before relocating to Los Angeles in 2008 to further pursue her acting career. In addition to her acting work, Herington is also a jazz singer, having performed with her own ensembles since the age of sixteen and releasing albums such as Blossoming and Midnight Sessions. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 2021.
Herington's voice acting career encompasses a wide range of roles in various animated series and films. She has provided the voice for lead characters in children's animated series such as Delilah Devonshire in Delilah & Julius and the title character in Pearlie. She is also well-known for voicing Tilly Green in the Disney Channel animated series Big City Greens, a role for which she received Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program in 2019 and 2020. Her other animation credits include Fifi La Fume in Tiny Toons Looniversity, Otter in Franklin, Sabrina in the first two seasons of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, and various roles in projects like Doc McStuffins and The Lion Guard.
In the realm of anime dubbing, Herington has portrayed a number of prominent characters. She voiced Honoka Kosaka, the energetic and determined leader of the main group, in the English adaptation of the popular Love Live! School Idol Project franchise, including its sequel series and the film Love Live! The School Idol Movie. She played the powerful esper Tatsumaki, also known as the Tornado of Terror, in the first season of One Punch Man. Her other significant anime roles include Tsuruno Yui in Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story, Princess Aurora in the English dub of Science Fiction Saiyuki Starzinger, and Priscilla (Nozomi Yumehara) / Cure Dream in Yes! Precure 5. She has also provided voices for characters in series such as Knights of Sidonia, Hunter × Hunter, The Seven Deadly Sins, and the OVA FLCL: Alternative.
Beyond television and film, Herington has an extensive list of credits in video game voice-over. Notably, she voiced the articulate and gambling-obsessed Celestia Ludenberg in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. She also took on the co-protagonist role of Escha Malier in the Atelier video game series, specifically in Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky and its subsequent appearances. Her other game credits include Paprika in Them's Fightin' Herds and the character Miss Aubrey in the Dance Central rhythm game series.
Around late 2016, Herington transitioned to becoming a union-only voice actress, aligning with SAG-AFTRA. This change impacted her ability to reprise some of her earlier non-union roles; for instance, she was unable to return as Tatsumaki for the second season of One Punch Man, where she was succeeded by Corina Boettger. Despite this, she has continued to work on unionized anime projects, such as her role as Tsuruno Yui in Magia Record. Her career reflects a versatility that spans comedic and dramatic roles across multiple genres and mediums, establishing her as a recognizable voice in the animation and video game industries.
