TV-Series
Description
Kizakura Kukuri is a petite girl with light peach skin and amber-colored oblong eyes. Her burnt-orange hair is short, styled with a large choppy fringe and long ear-tails held in place by white angel-wing clips. She wears a yellow top with white trim and dark indigo details, a pleated orange skirt bearing a red stripe over white frills, indigo stockings, and white ankle-boots with orange rims. Her accessories include white cuffs with red bangles, a white hooded mantle edged in indigo and orange, a white hat with an indigo rim, and a wooden staff topped with a red gem.
An intense passion for sweets heavily defines her personality, frequently motivating her actions and willingness to help others when confectionery is involved. She holds a strong disdain for anyone who discards imperfect things. Initially showing little interest in her role as a Sword Eye of Light, this attitude gradually evolves.
Her background is marked by significant hardship, having lost her parents at a young age, likely to abandonment, which forced her to struggle for survival on the streets. There, she and other children were often bullied by adults who took the food she managed to earn. Her circumstances improved after meeting her friends Yamabuki and Kogane, eventually leading her to co-found and become president of the Sweetsmates, a major organization and company devoted to sweet foods.
She first met Tsurugi Tatewaki on a boat, where she sampled cookies made by his grandmother. She later assisted Tsurugi and the droid Bringer by hiding them from pursuing Atlantian droids and directing them to her childhood friend Sora for repairs. Though initially reluctant to join their journey, she encountered them again at Mt. Viridis. There, she confronted the purple Sword Eye of Darkness, Rirove, challenging his callous behavior, though she lost the subsequent card battle to his extraordinary luck.
The journey brought the group to her hometown and the Sweetsmates headquarters in Megallanion. In the nearby Sonnenblumme sunflower fields, she unearthed a box containing her Sword Brave, The LightWingsDivineBlade Angelicfeather. Using it in battle against Brau's subordinate, Regen, she realized her desire to protect friends mirrored Tsurugi's drive to save his mother, solidifying her commitment to help defeat King Yaiba. Banished from Megallanion as a consequence, she attempted to appoint Kogane as the new Sweetsmates president, but her friends refused and chose to await her return.
On the holiday of Yaiba's birthday, she was seen selling cakes in Kamata and battled Tsurugi after he refused to partake, a match she lost. After Bringer's capture, she went to the royal palace to rescue him, attracting King Yaiba's interest due to the jewel on her staff. Under pressure, she revealed it was given to her by a red-haired man, later identified as Bomber, who also provided her with the card The ArcAngelia Raraphael. She later battled Rebel to successfully reclaim the white Sword Brave of Light for Haqua.
Following the capture of several allies by Yaiba, Kukuri was interrogated further about her jewel. Yaiba, deducing its divine origin and seeing her as uniquely chosen, proposed marriage to produce an heir, a prospect she strongly opposed. She gained her freedom after Haqua won a battle against Brau but was forced to return to the palace under threat to Sora and Haqua's safety. She eventually reunited with Tsurugi, though the group later split. She traveled with Hagakure and Suou to defend Kolga village from attack before rejoining Tsurugi at the palace.
She devised a plan to break Sora free from brainwashing by Garudos by feeding him special, super-hot cookies, which proved successful. She promised to make him proper sweets upon their return to the surface. During the ritual to summon the Sword of Judgment, she battled the yellow Sword Eye of Darkness, Amarello. Later, to cheer up children separated from their mothers, she engaged in a card battle with Hagakure. For the final conflict against Garudos, she entrusted Tsurugi with two key magic cards, The Light Shooting Hill and Steal Heart, the latter playing a crucial role in the battle, while she focused on diverting the enemy Stingers away from the arks. In the epilogue, she is seen distributing sweets alongside her friends.
In the manga adaptation, her narrative is more streamlined as a girl journeying to find the world's best sweets who joins Tsurugi's quest with little hesitation. She discovers her Sword Brave in Sonnenblumme, and the story concludes with her embarking on another journey alongside the other Sword Eyes of Light.
She utilizes a yellow charge deck in Battle Spirits. Key cards in her arsenal include The ArcAngelia Raraphael, The LightWingsDivineBlade Angelicfeather, and various other Angelia-type spirits and support magic like Steal Heart.
Her card battle record in the anime includes losses to Rirove, Tsurugi, Yaiba, and Hagakure, with victories against Regen and Rebel. The result of her battle against Amarello was unknown. Her sole documented manga battle was a victory against Regen.
