Pafu acts as a primary fairy companion from the Hope Kingdom. Though identifying as a fairy, her appearance resembles a poodle with off-white fur, large purple eyes featuring pink heart-shaped highlights, a pale pink button nose, and fluffy ears. She consistently wears a gold tiara with a hot pink gem heart and a gold brooch. Her design sometimes varies, such as sporting a white scarf secured by a dark pink bow with a crown-shaped piece in films. When transformed into a human, she manifests as a young girl retaining her tiara, hairstyle, and cheek hearts, dressed in a pink-and-white frilly maid uniform complete with bloomers, tights, and Mary Jane shoes.

Her personality blends a pampered, talkative, and carefree demeanor with a fervent passion for fashion, especially hairstyles and clothing. She reacts with hypersensitivity if mistaken for an ordinary puppy or tanuki. Despite occasional clumsiness, she exhibits profound loyalty and protectiveness, notably shielding Princess Towa from Dys Dark agents during Towa's illness—an instinct that later fuels her growth.

Pafu and her older brother, Aroma, received the Princess Perfumes from Prince Kanata to locate the legendary Princess Pretty Cure warriors after Dys Dark invaded Hope Kingdom. During the search, Pafu frequently tripped over her long ears until meeting Haruno Haruka. Though initially annoyed by Haruka mistaking her for a dog, she accepted help tying her ears and recognized Haruka’s Dress Up Key, enabling Haruka’s transformation into Cure Flora. Pafu then resided at Noble Academy’s dormitory. Her presence initially violated pet policies, but defending dorm head Kisaragi Reiko against a Zetsuborg earned her permission to stay.

A pivotal moment occurred when Towa fell ill. Pafu and Aroma vowed to protect her from Dys Dark commander Shut. Confronting a cicada Zetsuborg, their fierce determination activated the "Maid Dress Up Mode," transforming Pafu into a fully realized maid. This form aided the Cures in battle and utilized the Music Princess Palace. Following Dys Dark’s defeat, she returned to Hope Kingdom with Towa, Kanata, and Aroma, continuing her maid duties despite occasional mistakes.

Her relationships include a close, mutually caring bond with indulgent brother Aroma. She shows deep respect for Prince Kanata and Princess Towa and shares a strong friendship with hairstyling companion Haruka. Mentor Miss Shamour granted Pafu the ability to assume human form.

Pafu’s abilities encompass flight and human transformation. Her Maid Dress Up Mode enhances her sense of smell to detect Dress Up Keys. Earlier in the series, she displayed new hairstyles in each episode’s eyecatch.
