TV-Series
Description
Akane Kurokawa is introduced as a talented young actress affiliated with the prestigious Lalalai theatrical company, known for her serious and dedicated approach to her craft. She is a practitioner of method acting, a technique that involves deeply researching and psychologically inhabiting the characters she portrays. Her motivation to become an actress initially stemmed from childhood admiration for the prodigious talent of fellow child actor Kana Arima, though this admiration later soured upon meeting Kana in person, transforming into a long-standing professional rivalry. At the start of the series, she is a high school student standing at 163 centimeters tall with distinctive midnight-blue hair, which she wears short at first and later grows out past her shoulders.

Akane's personality is marked by a combination of deep introspection and immense pressure to succeed. She is fundamentally a serious and hardworking individual, but this is paired with a lack of confidence and a tendency to over-analyze situations, especially those involving public perception. Her most significant trial occurs during her participation in the reality dating show We're About to Fall in Love for Real. Struggling to stand out under pressure from her agency, she attempts to create a dramatic storyline but inadvertently causes a minor accident on set. The show's producers edit the incident maliciously, sparking a massive wave of online harassment and cyberbullying that drives Akane into severe depression. This culminates in a suicide attempt during a typhoon, from which she is rescued by her co-star, Aqua Hoshino.

This traumatic event becomes a turning point in her life and role in the story. Grateful to Aqua for saving her life, she develops a profound interest in him. Using her formidable research and psychological profiling skills, she deduces his connection to the late idol Ai Hoshino and delivers a flawless impersonation of Ai on the show, a performance that shocks Aqua and the audience. This act launches her into a central role, as Aqua subsequently initiates a fake romantic relationship with her on the show to use her insights for his own purposes. Akane, aware of his manipulation, accepts the arrangement, hoping her genuine affection will eventually turn their lie into truth.

As the story progresses, Akane becomes one of the most crucial figures in the narrative's darker themes of revenge and truth. She is one of the few characters who understands Aqua's hidden motivations, including his desire for revenge against his biological father. Her intelligence and perceptiveness allow her to act as a confidante and strategic partner, going as far as to declare she will help him "kill that person". Her key relationships are defined by this bond with Aqua, evolving from a savior and a tool, to a trusted helper and genuine romantic partner, and eventually to an adversary who attempts to protect him from his own vengeful path. Her relationship with Kana Arima remains complex, defined by a mix of rivalry and respect, as they compete both professionally and for Aqua's attention.

Akane's development throughout the series sees her transform from a vulnerable victim of the entertainment industry's cruelty into a proactive and determined agent. She demonstrates remarkable resilience, overcoming public disgrace to become a more confident performer. Her character arc is defined by her growth from performing a role to please others to taking dangerous, independent action to protect the person she loves. She showcases notable abilities beyond acting, including exceptional deductive reasoning and psychological profiling that border on investigative genius. She uses these skills not only to master her roles but also to uncover the identity of Aqua's and Ruby's estranged father, a truth that had eluded Aqua for years, positioning her as a key driver of the central plot. Her willingness to confront uncomfortable truths, even at great personal risk, solidifies her role as the character most deeply embedded in the story's core questions of love, lies, and justice.
