Mikuru Kobayashi, known in her transformed state as Cure Mystique, is one of the four main heroines in the story of Eiga Meitantei Precure!. She is a fourteen-year-old second-year middle school student who has recently joined the CUREtto Detective Agency in Makoto Mirai City with a clear and earnest goal: to become a great detective. Her desire to pursue this path stems from a personal experience where detectives once helped her, inspiring her to help others in the same way. Despite her clumsiness, which often manifests in small mistakes, Mikuru is profoundly sincere and hardworking. She possesses a rich knowledge of detective work and typically relies on careful thought and logical reasoning to arrive at answers, preferring this approach over intuition. Alongside her dedication to solving mysteries, she has a deep fondness for cute things, which is a consistent part of her personality. In the narrative, Mikuru serves as the primary partner to Anna Akechi, who transforms into Cure Answer. The two form a close bond, with Anna staying at the detective agency alongside her. Their relationship develops significantly over the course of the story, including a key moment where Mikuru comes to understand the loneliness Anna feels after time-slipping from the future, leading her to apologize for not realising it sooner. As Cure Mystique, her appearance changes dramatically: her hair becomes magenta with pale blue highlights and a pastel pink ombre, and she gains longer, more voluminous bangs with additional forelocks. Her combat abilities include the technique Mystique Reflection and the Flying Spectrum attack, which she uses alongside her partner to fight against the Phantom Thieves Guild. Mikuru and Anna share a notable duo transformation, marking the first paired transformation in the franchise since Mirai and Liko in Mahoutsukai Precure!.
