Description
Galgardo is the current reigning Demon King of the Demon Kingdom in the anime Farming Life in Another World 2. Before ascending to the throne, he was a regional noble living under his birth name, Kivslee. He operates as the sitting monarch while still carrying this personal name. His governance is supported by key officials including a minister of internal affairs, a foreign minister, a military leader, and a finance chief, indicating a structured and functioning realm.

In personality, Galgardo is notably personable and approachable, a monarch who defies the typical fearsome image of a Demon King. He is modest in his demeanor but possesses the formidable power befitting his title. This combination of strength and amiability helps explain his easy rapport with others. He has a playful and gentle side, especially evident in his interactions with animals, and the kittens of Great Tree Village are particularly fond of him, a feeling he reciprocates.

A core part of his character is his role as a father. He is comically overprotective of his daughter, Yuri, to the point of refusing to acknowledge how much she has grown. He has even boasted, in a hyperbolic fashion, that he would kill any man she might consider dating. He maintains a good and affectionate marriage with his wife, Ane, though their relationship is tested by the demands of his work, which forces them to live apart for extended periods.

Galgardo's role in the story is deeply tied to the protagonist, Hiraku Machio. He first visited Hiraku's Great Tree Village during the eighth martial arts tournament hosted there, and the two became lasting friends. This ongoing friendship serves as a crucial diplomatic bridge, keeping relations between the Demon Kingdom and the peaceful farming village warm and stable. Despite his high standing, Galgardo is pragmatic and recognizes when he is outmatched. He ranks below the Dragon King, Dors, and is visibly intimidated by the sheer power gap that exists between them. He also has notoriously poor luck in tournament draws, frequently finding himself pitted against opponents who are stronger than he is. This combination of personal warmth, surprising vulnerability, and genuine political power defines his role as a reliable, if sometimes exasperated, ally.
