Description
Shizuma Aonuma is a supporting character in the story of Recommendation from Mr. Iwamoto, which is set in Japan during the 1910s. He is a boy who possesses special powers, though he initially views this ability as a curse or an illness rather than a gift. Before his introduction into the main narrative, Shizuma was living in seclusion, having shut himself underground in a village where rumors circulated about falling black snow. His situation is dire, as he is described as being a human addicted to a drug.

His life changes upon meeting Kodo Iwamoto, a third-year student at the military-controlled Seiho Middle School who is traveling the country investigating paranormal phenomena. Recognizing the boy's potential, Iwamoto shows Shizuma how to properly use his powers and identifies a commonality between them, leading to Iwamoto offering him a letter of recommendation to attend Seiho Middle School. This act pulls Shizuma out of his isolated existence and enrolls him in the military academy.

Once at the school, Shizuma takes on an active role in investigating supernatural occurrences. He is partnered with a character named Haramachi Umi, and together they work to uncover the true identity of a paranormal entity known as the scythe that breaks bonds. His role in the story is therefore that of a troubled individual who is rescued from his circumstances and given a purpose, becoming one of the promising recruits that Iwamoto recommends and protects as they delve into various mysteries. The specific nature and extent of his notable abilities are not detailed in available sources, but they are considered special powers that set him apart from ordinary humans.
