Description
Paruna, whose full name is Paruna Biore, is a character from the fantasy light novel and manga series The Villager of Level 999. She is a mage who becomes a member of the main protagonist Koji Kagami's party. Her past is marked by a significant tragedy that has deeply influenced her motivations and personality.

In her early years, Paruna was not a willing student of magic. Born as a mage, she was forced by her parents to pursue magical studies in the capital's royal library, a path she deeply resented. She hated magic and studying, viewing her training as an obligation imposed by her parents rather than a choice of her own. Her perspective changed dramatically after meeting an older boy who became her master. This boy, who had long green hair and wore glasses, shared her circumstances as someone forced into becoming a magician. Instead of forcing more magical theory on her, he gave her a picture book about a hero, showing her that the library contained more than just dry textbooks. Through his guidance, Paruna learned that knowledge extended beyond magic and was essential for strengthening the imagination needed to control magical power. She grew to respect him deeply, calling him master, and developed feelings for him.

Her master was a curious and kind person who dreamed of coexistence between humans and demons, a belief similar to that of the main character Koji Kagami. However, his thirst for knowledge became an obsession, leading him to research demons more directly. Despite his kindness, which prevented him from abducting a demon for study, his pursuit ultimately led to his death. Paruna witnessed him being killed by a demon, which left her with a traumatic and burning memory that continues to haunt her. This event is referred to as her troubled past, which complicates situations later in the story.

As a result of her training and natural talent, Paruna possesses notable magical abilities. Her master was a genius, and under his tutelage, she learned to imagine magical shapes more effectively than other children and gained overwhelming skill in manipulating magical power. Her extensive knowledge, both magical and general, allows her to understand her environment better and gives her a genuine gift for magic.

Paruna plays a significant role as a member of the main party of warriors who come to understand and join Koji Kagami's cause. Within this group, her relationship with Koji is informed by her past, as she recognizes that his belief in coexistence between humans and demons mirrors that of her late master. Her emotional journey involves confronting the trauma of her master's death and reconciling her past with her present alliances. The narrative explores how she copes with this loss and how it shapes her interactions with others who share similar ideals.
