Description
Marie Antoinette is the protagonist of the segment titled Reborn as Marie Antoinette, I'll Give it My All to Avoid the Guillotine, which is part of the anthology series Shūkan Ranobe Anime. Her original self is a modern-day otaku woman who has drawn dozens of dōjinshi and is deeply devoted to idol‑raising otome games. She is reincarnated into the body of the historical French queen Marie Antoinette shortly after arriving at the Palace of Versailles as the newly married Dauphine of France.

Driven by a single, desperate motivation, Antoinette knows that if she follows the course of history she will be executed by guillotine during the French Revolution. Determined to survive, she resolves to change her fate by winning the affection of the common people. Her plan is to use her otaku knowledge and passion to create the very first idol group within the palace, recruiting her husband Louis and his two younger brothers, Stanislas and Charles, as the group’s members. She believes that a successful idol project will endear the royal family to the public and allow her to escape the guillotine.

Personality-wise, Antoinette is a blend of her modern, pop‑culture‑savvy self and the formal role she must play. She is resourceful and quick‑thinking, often relying on her familiarity with game mechanics and fandom terminology to navigate court life. Internally, she frequently panics about the tightrope she walks, but outwardly she projects confidence and charm. She is not afraid to break strict court protocols if it serves her goal. For example, when the king’s aunts pressure her to ignore Madame du Barry, the king’s low‑born mistress, Antoinette instead speaks kindly to her, rejecting class discrimination and winning du Barry’s favor. This action surprises the court and demonstrates Antoinette’s willingness to act on her modern, egalitarian values.

In the story, Antoinette serves as the central force driving the narrative forward. Her role is to subvert historical expectations while dealing with the high‑stakes politics of Versailles. She must balance her secret agenda with the daily routines expected of a Dauphine, such as attending mass and visiting the aunts’ salon. Her key relationships include her husband Louis, who initially appears distant but gradually shows support for her ideas; the two younger brothers, who observe her with interest and amusement; and Madame du Barry, whom she turns into an ally rather than an enemy. The aunts serve as obstacles who try to use her for their own political games, but Antoinette outmaneuvers them.

As the series progresses, Antoinette develops from a panicked reincarnator into a more confident strategist. She learns to use her knowledge of historical figures and court dynamics to her advantage. Her initial goal remains the same, but she becomes more adept at reading people and adapting her idol‑project plan to the constraints of 18th‑century French society.

Antoinette’s notable abilities come from her past life: a deep understanding of idol culture, including choreography, fan engagement, and group dynamics; practical experience in drawing and writing (useful for designing promotional materials); and a rudimentary knowledge of ballet from childhood lessons, which helps her hold her own at court dances. She also possesses a modern mindset that allows her to see through the hypocrisy of aristocratic etiquette and propose unconventional solutions. Despite her lack of formal political training, her cleverness and sincerity allow her to build unlikely alliances and gradually alter her circumstances.
