ONA
Description
Makoto Oda is a supporting character in the Romantic Killer series. He is a fair-skinned young man with dark blue hair that is partially swept to the side and dark blue eyes. He comes from a family with older sisters whose boorish and slovenly behavior at home has made him less interested in pursuing a dating life for himself.
Makoto is easygoing and reliable by nature, though he can be somewhat air-headed and oblivious at times. His kind personality allows Tsukasa Kazuki, his best friend, to let his guard down around him, which is notable because Tsukasa tends to be cold and distant with others, especially girls. Makoto is often puzzled by Tsukasa’s frosty attitude toward romance and frequently apologizes on his friend’s behalf to smooth over awkward social situations. Before the arrival of Anzu Hoshino, Makoto was Tsukasa’s only friend at their new school.
His motivations are primarily centered on maintaining his friendship with Tsukasa and supporting those around him. He shows admiration for Junta Hayami, fawning over the latter’s athleticism and handsomeness. Makoto also demonstrates a surprising perceptiveness when it matters most: during a Summer Festival, he notices that Saki is uncomfortable after encountering someone who abused her in middle school, and he quickly takes her by the hand to lead her away from the situation. This action reveals a protective and emotionally aware side beneath his usual obliviousness.
Makoto’s role in the story is that of a supportive friend who helps balance Tsukasa’s reserved nature and often acts as a social bridge between Tsukasa and others, including Anzu. He does not undergo a dramatic personal arc, but his steady presence and occasional moments of insight contribute to the group dynamics. His notable ability is his knack for reading subtle emotional cues when a friend is in distress, as shown with Saki, and his willingness to act on that intuition.
