ONA
Description
Hyodo is a significant supporting character who appears in the third season of this anime. He is a leopard with a distinctive and memorable appearance, characterized by his piercing blue eyes, a chipped left ear, and yellow fur marked with brown spots. His long tail features a black tip. His typical attire consists of a white dress shirt, a light blue tie, midnight blue pants, and brown dress shoes.
On the surface, Hyodo has a stone-faced expression that makes him seem cold, serious, and perpetually irritated. However, this exterior contrasts sharply with his true personality. Beneath his gruff demeanor, he is remarkably supportive of the idol group he manages, often offering advice and hyping up the performers even more enthusiastically than the actual audience. He is an extremely honest and assertive individual whose bluntness is matched only by his sudden fits of rage. Hyodo is also a self-proclaimed gambler who consistently has very high aspirations and seemingly outlandish ideas. While these ideas can sometimes appear foolish, they tend to produce positive results.
Hyodo is the manager of an underground idol group named the OTMGirls. He first encounters the series protagonist, Retsuko, after she accidentally backs her car into his parked van. Instead of involving the police, he proposes a deal: Retsuko can work off her debt to him by serving as an accountant and general assistant for his struggling idol group. This arrangement forms the central conflict of the third season, as Retsuko becomes deeply involved in the group's operations. While he is demanding and has a hot temper, Hyodo also shows a more decent side. In one instance, after the OTMGirls turn their first profit thanks to Retsuko's financial skills, he tells her to keep her entire paycheck, insisting she earned it, and then treats the whole group to a celebratory dinner.
Later in the season, Hyodo's motivations become more complex. After Retsuko finds great success and popularity with her death metal singing, he grows jealous because his own group is not performing well. He then pursues a collaboration with Retsuko, claiming it would benefit both sides, though he is privately aware that the arrangement would primarily help his own idols.
The character does not possess any supernatural or special abilities. His most notable skills are his business acumen in the idol industry, his talent for making bold, high-risk decisions, and his capacity for sudden, explosive expressions of emotion. Through his relationship with Retsuko and the OTMGirls, Hyodo displays a development from a purely intimidating figure to a more layered character who experiences both supportive pride and petty jealousy regarding Retsuko's success.
