ONA
Description
Joshua Berahia is a prominent supporting character in the second arc of the series, known as the Hell's Requiem arc. He holds the distinguished position of leader of the Samurai who serve the kingdom of Iron Maiden.

Coming from a prestigious samurai family, Joshua earned the title of Samurai Master at a young age, a testament to his exceptional skill and dedication. He later served as an instructor at the dojo of Nils John Mifune, further honing his abilities and teaching the next generation of warriors. His personal history is deeply intertwined with the samurai code, which governs much of his behavior and worldview.

Joshua possesses a calm and collected personality, with a pure and noble heart. He is intensely proud of his identity as a samurai and is unwilling to compromise his principles or act in any way that violates the samurai code of Bushido. This strong moral compass makes him a reliable and honorable ally. One of his key personal motivations appears to be his romantic feelings for Kai Harn, a fellow samurai, which adds a layer of personal longing to his otherwise disciplined demeanor.

In the story, Joshua is first seen leading a samurai revolt in the land of Denis against the forces of the sorcerer Kall-Su. During this conflict, he challenges the powerful Yngwei von Mattström to a duel, demonstrating his courage and willingness to face formidable opponents. Later, he plays a central role in defending the samurai castle from an attack by the Sorcerer Shoguns. In a notable battle, he faces the Shogun Maclalpine Toni Strauss, where he is ultimately captured and killed. However, Joshua is later brought back to life by the wizard Dark Schneider, who uses magical worms to resurrect the fallen samurai.

Joshua maintains several key relationships. He is a close friend of fellow samurai Jorg Fishes and a disciple of the samurai high master Nils John Mifune. His interactions with Kai Harn are particularly significant, as he makes attempts to confess his feelings to her, though his reserved nature and sense of duty often complicate his efforts. He also has a respectful but occasionally adversarial relationship with the chaotic wizard Dark Schneider, whose methods often clash with Joshua's strict code of honor.

Throughout the Hell's Requiem arc, Joshua demonstrates a degree of development, primarily in his interactions with others. While he remains steadfast in his samurai principles, his experiences, including his death and resurrection, and his ongoing struggle to express his love for Kai, show a more vulnerable and human side to his character. He evolves from a purely duty-bound warrior to someone who must navigate complex personal emotions amidst the chaos of war.

Befitting his position as leader of the Samurai, Joshua Berahia is a master swordsman of immense skill. He is a master of the Iai Giri technique, the art of drawing one's sword, striking an enemy, and sheathing the sword so quickly it appears as if no movement was made. He possesses high magical power and maintains a good balance between offensive and defensive capabilities in combat.

His primary equipment includes the Tsubanari, a famous sword given to him when he became a Samurai master. This sword is carved with a massive ki, allowing it to cut through adamantite, the hardest known substance. When using his signature attack, the guard of the sword produces a wind-like whistle and slices a vacuum into the surrounding air. He also wears the Silver Mountain, a suit of armor made of silver that has been passed down through generations of the Berahia household. This armor has the ability to deflect magic. His most powerful sword technique is the Butterfly Dance Ashura Blade, which creates the appearance of dancing butterflies and is powerful enough to cut through the nearly invisible wires of the Sorcerer Shogun Maclalpine Toni Strauss.
