Description
Lilit is an Armenian revolutionary from the Ottoman Empire and a member of the Committee for Union and Progress. Following the revolution, she is sent to America to serve as the assistant to the Ottoman Ambassador to the United States, the Kizlar Agha. She first appears in the Behemoth story arc. Lilit is perceptive and pragmatic, with a sharp awareness of political realities. She quickly becomes distrustful of Prince Aleksandar after discovering his secret communications with the journalist Eddie Malone, viewing this as a breach of trust. She also disapproves of Alek's early aristocratic snobbishness and his sexist attitudes, leading her to describe him as a perfectly useless aristocrat. Her motivations are rooted in her revolutionary convictions and her desire to advance the cause of Armenian independence within the Ottoman Empire. As a supporting character, she acts as a counterpoint to Alek's privileged worldview and provides a grounded, politically astute perspective. Her role involves navigating the delicate political landscape of the Ottoman diplomatic corps while maintaining her revolutionary principles. Beyond her political and diplomatic abilities, she demonstrates a capacity for strategic observation and a willingness to challenge those she perceives as obstacles to her goals. Her development sees her transition from an active revolutionary to a diplomatic figure, while retaining her core commitment to her cause.
