Description
Kurihara Misato was an exceptionally intelligent eighteen-year-old Japanese high school graduate whose abilities led to social isolation. She died saving a young girl destined to advance humanity from an oncoming truck. A god-like entity, grateful for this act, offered her reincarnation into a fantasy world. Misato requested "average" abilities to avoid past isolation, but the entity interpreted this as the mathematical mid-range between the weakest creature (a paramecium) and the strongest (an Elder Dragon), granting her physical and magical capabilities roughly 6,800 times greater than an average human. She was reborn as Adele von Ascham, daughter of Viscount Ascham.
Adele's memories of her past life and awareness of her powers surfaced at age ten, triggered by a headache. Her family life deteriorated after the assassinations of her mother and grandfather, orchestrated by her father. He remarried, favored his new daughter Prissy as heir, and sent Adele to Eckland Academy in the capital to distance her from succession. At Eckland, she navigated common sense discrepancies between worlds and formed close friendships with Marcela, Monika, and Aureana—the "Wonder Trio." After using her powers to protect a boy from royal guards and pretending to be a divine vessel, she attracted dangerous attention and fled to the neighboring Kingdom of Tils, adopting the alias "Mile."
Enrolling at Hunter's Prep School as Mile, she joined three classmates: Mavis von Austien, a noble swordswoman; Reina, a fire mage with combat experience; and Pauline, a water and healing mage, forming the hunter party Crimson Vow. Mile sought anonymity, but her overpowered abilities—superhuman strength, speed, sensory perception, and Authorization Level 5 over the world's nanomachines (enabling magic)—frequently forced her into extraordinary situations. Her nanomachine access granted abilities like interdimensional storage, item creation, and spell redirection, which she often masked as "family secrets" or mundane skills.
Mile's personality blends traits from both lives. She retains past otaku interests, references anime/manga tropes, crafts detailed figures of companions, and exhibits a pronounced fondness for beast-eared individuals. Earnest yet struggling to keep secrets, she frequently deflects questions or flees awkward conversations. She displays fierce loyalty, with anger escalating through four documented levels; the highest levels (3-4) surface when allies are harmed, manifesting as a cold, ruthless demeanor or terrifying smile. Her insecurities include A-cup angst and embarrassment over inadvertent underwear exposure due to her refusal to wear pants.
Throughout her journey, Mile reconciles her desire for normalcy with her role in Crimson Vow. She trains her friends to enhance their combat effectiveness, hoping to reduce her standout contributions. Key arcs include aiding Pauline in avenging her father's murder by exposing a corrupt merchant, helping Mavis defy an arranged marriage by defeating her father in combat, and confronting threats like wyverns and ancient dragons. Later discoveries reveal the fantasy world's history of repeated civilizational collapses, potentially tied to external forces, with Mile's reincarnation suggested as a deliberate countermeasure. Her relationships deepen within Crimson Vow, including protective dynamics with Reina, admiration for Mavis's knightly ideals, and shared otaku-like enthusiasm with Pauline. Despite challenges, Mile gradually accepts her unique role while striving to protect the ordinary life she found with her friends.
