Description
"Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!" is a fantasy isekai anime series adapted from the light novel by FUNA. The protagonist, Misato Kurihara, is a brilliant but socially isolated teenager who dies in a tragic accident. Upon her death, she meets a divine being and is reincarnated into a magical world as Adele von Ascham, a young girl with a unique request: to live an ordinary life with average abilities. However, her wish is misinterpreted, and she is granted powers that are neither too weak nor too strong—but are, in fact, the average of the strongest and weakest beings in the world. This results in her possessing extraordinary abilities far beyond those of ordinary people.
Adele begins her new life in a world filled with magic, monsters, and adventurers. To avoid standing out, she enrolls in a hunter school, where she befriends three other girls: Reina, Mavis, and Pauline. Together, they form a party and embark on various adventures, taking on quests and battling monsters. Despite her efforts to blend in, Adele's immense power frequently draws attention, complicating her desire for a normal life. The series balances slice-of-life moments with action-packed sequences, exploring themes of friendship, self-discovery, and the challenges of living up to societal expectations.
The narrative delves into Adele's internal conflict as she navigates her dual identity—her desire for an average life versus the reality of her extraordinary abilities. Her interactions with her friends and the world around her highlight her growth as a character, as she learns to embrace her strengths while maintaining her humility. The anime also incorporates humor and lighthearted moments, particularly through the dynamic between Adele and her friends, who each bring their own quirks and personalities to the group. The series concludes with Adele and her companions continuing their adventures, leaving room for further exploration of their world and relationships.
