Claire Corlett
Description
Claire Corlett is a Canadian voice actress born on July 9, 1999, in Vancouver, British Columbia. She comes from a family with deep roots in the animation industry; her father is veteran voice actor Ian James Corlett, and her older brother, Philip Corlett, is also a voice actor. Her introduction to voice acting came at the age of five when her father helped her create a demo tape. Her first professional role was as a preschooler in an episode of Being Ian, an animated series created by her father that was based on his life.
Corlett is best known for her extensive work in Western animation. Her most prominent and long-running role was providing the speaking voice of Sweetie Belle in the beloved series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, a character she voiced from 2010 until the show's conclusion in 2019. This performance earned her a Behind the Voice Actors Award for Best Female Vocal Performance by a Child in 2013. Another significant early role was as Tiny Pteranodon in the long-running PBS Kids series Dinosaur Train, which she voiced from 2009 to 2020. Her other voice credits in animation include Michelle Conrad in 3-2-1 Penguins!, Sally Brown in Peanuts Motion Comics, Dizzy in the 2015 reboot of Bob the Builder, and Blazo in Dragons: Rescue Riders. She has also voiced the character Stacie in several Barbie direct-to-video films.
In addition to her animation work, Corlett has appeared in live-action roles, including the television film Smart Cookies and the feature film Before I Fall. She has also worked as a video editor for YouTube channels and as an executive producer.
While Corlett's career is primarily rooted in Western animation, she has expanded into English anime dubbing. As noted in her filmography, she voiced the character Mavis von Austien in the English dub of the anime series Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! in 2019. This role is listed as her first foray into anime voice work.
Corlett attended the University of British Columbia for Creative Writing. She is married to fellow voice actor Gabriel Christian Brown, whom she met while working on My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
