Description
Anzu Yokoyama is a supporting character in the narrative, known for her athletic build and medium-length brown hair. She is often described as having a somewhat thuggish look, yet her personality is a mix of cheerfulness, confidence, and a notable lack of modesty, as she is comfortable speaking with boys and often wears her school uniform with an open collar. Initially, she is portrayed as someone who is easy to manipulate, driven by a desire for recognition and promotion within the school's social hierarchy.

Her background reveals that she is a second-year student and a former member of the Underground Student Council, where she served as the Commander of the Guards under its president, Mari Kurihara. She is also the cousin of Mitsuko Yokoyama, who serves as the secretary for the official Aboveground Student Council. This connection places her at a unique intersection between the school's competing power structures.

Anzu’s primary motivation evolves significantly over the course of the story. She is first introduced as a pawn in the Underground Student Council's scheme to have the five imprisoned boys expelled. Her role is to act as a spy and a temptress, gaining the trust of the prisoner Shingo Wakamoto by feigning romantic interest. She is promised a promotion for her efforts, which initially drives her actions. However, as she spends time with Shingo on fake dates, her calculated deception transforms into genuine affection. This internal conflict becomes her central motivation, leading her to abandon her mission and the council to protect him.

Her role in the story is therefore that of a double agent turned ally. She confesses her original deceit to Shingo, revealing that she had sabotaged his watch to make him break curfew. Overcome with guilt and her newfound feelings, she chooses to help him and the other boys. This act of rebellion marks a turning point, as she later assists in crucial plans, such as acting as a decoy to help Kiyoshi Fujino meet with Chiyo Kurihara. Her relationship with Shingo is rocky, characterized by misunderstandings and bizarre situations, including a moment where his awkward attempt to follow Kiyoshi’s romantic advice leads to a temporary estrangement. Nevertheless, they reconcile, and she agrees to compete as a jockey for the Underground Student Council in the All-Student-Council Cavalry Battle.

Throughout her development, Anzu demonstrates a capacity for courage and personal growth. She transitions from a manipulative follower to a decisive individual who acts on her own conscience. Despite her occasional clumsiness and immodesty, she is portrayed as genuinely kind and fiercely competitive. She possesses high-caliber gaming skills and athleticism, which, combined with her extensive knowledge of the council’s history and members, makes her a formidable competitor during the sports festival. Her journey is one of learning to prioritize personal loyalty and truth over institutional obedience.
