Description
Kanon Nakagawa is a 16-year-old student in class 2-B at Maijima Private High School, born March 3rd, standing 161 cm tall with blood type AB. She first rose to fame in the idol group Citron but launched a solo career after outperforming the group's leader, Lime. Driven by childhood experiences of being overlooked and forgotten, which fostered deep insecurity and a fear of invisibility, Kanon became an idol. This need manifested as histrionic personality tendencies, fueling an intense craving for constant validation to affirm her existence. Her self-worth became inextricably linked to her idol status, amplifying anxieties about losing popularity and fading back into obscurity.

Physically, Kanon sports short pink hair, a change from her former waist-length style, and dark-pink eyes. She often wears a large yellow ribbon and uses hats and glasses in public to avoid recognition. Her elaborate stage costumes contrast sharply with her school uniform, distinguished by a pink tie featuring a red jewel instead of the standard ribbon. Personality-wise, she presents a cheerful, polite facade that endears her to staff and peers, yet privately struggles with fragility. She exhibits obsessive-compulsive behaviors, like sending Keima excessively long emails filled with repeated "thank you"s, and processes stress by talking aloud to herself. When fixated, such as on Keima after he failed to recognize her, she commandeered stage equipment for unauthorized private rooftop concerts.

Her story begins during an "Idol Arc" where a runaway spirit exploits her fear of invisibility. Keima Katsuragi helps her rebuild self-confidence for her solo debut concert, convincing her that her talent alone makes her shine. This conquest fills the gap in her heart, expelling the spirit, though standard memory erasure follows. Latent feelings for Keima persist. Later, in the "Goddesses Arc," Kanon is revealed as the host for Apollo, one of the Jupiter Sisters—deities who sacrificed themselves to seal Old Hell centuries earlier. Apollo's presence allows Kanon to retain full memories of Keima's conquest, causing lingering attraction. Apollo occasionally teases Kanon about cherishing these memories, though Kanon initially avoids confronting Keima, assuming he forgot her.

The organization Vintage, seeking to eliminate the goddesses, targets Kanon. In response, she publicly confesses her feelings to Keima at school. Apollo then forcibly takes control of Kanon's body to flee, aiming to protect Keima from Vintage. However, the Vintage assassin Fiore stabs her with a cursed dagger mimicking Old Hell's magic, inducing a life-threatening coma. Apollo uses her power to transform Kanon's body into a water-like state, delaying death but leaving her comatose. Keima secures her in his home and collaborates with other goddesses to remove the dagger. Though the physical threat is neutralized, Kanon remains unconscious as Apollo's powers "sink." She eventually awakens during the Mai-High Festival when the collective efforts of all six Jupiter Sisters counteract Vintage's curse. In a symbolic moment, she sprouts wings while singing alongside Chihiro Kosaka, showcasing Apollo's fully restored influence.

In the "Heart of Jupiter Arc," Kanon continues her idol activities, advertising products like "choco mog" via blimp. She later encounters Keima after he develops amnesia, assisting him in navigating daily life and even buying him games. She pressures him to regain his memories by revisiting locations like the Mai-High Festival site, tying their interactions to shared experiences. Beyond the main series, she features in the spin-off "Magical Star Kanon 100%," depicted as a magical girl battling evil spirits through song. This alternate portrayal emphasizes her musical abilities but exists outside the primary continuity.
