Description
Kuro is a kobold, a demi-human whose appearance closely resembles that of a black-and-white shiba inu with humanoid features, white eyebrows, round eyes, and a tail. He is shorter than the party’s magician Rin but taller than the dwarf Daya, and he typically wears sleeveless leather armor with mitten-like armored gloves and black pants, going barefoot. His manner of speaking consists of simple phrases, having learned human language from his party leader Kabru.

He originally left his hometown out of curiosity about the wider world, but was captured near a port and sold to a slave merchant. The ladino Mickbell freed him from captivity, and Kuro later attacked the slave merchant when Mickbell was threatened, cementing a bond of mutual rescue. This event defined Kuro’s unwavering loyalty to Mickbell, and even as a member of Kabru’s party he habitually follows Mickbell’s lead.

Kuro finds contentment in life’s basics. He is straightforward and easily pleased, accepting food as payment instead of money, and he remains unaware that Mickbell takes advantage of this arrangement. Despite his limited understanding of complex social dealings, he displays genuine friendliness, and while learning to speak he often emphasized his strong friendship with Mickbell, an attachment that even the emotionally reserved Kabru quietly supported. When he first met the beast-man Izutsumi, Kuro sensed a magical or monstrous aura within her and growled to keep her at a distance, showing his protective instincts.

As a kobold, Kuro possesses exceptionally keen senses, particularly smell and hearing, making him highly skilled at tracking and locating targets. Within Kabru’s party he serves as a scout and fighter, using his natural physical abilities and simple leather-armored combat style. He acts with the simplicity of a dog who knows what he cares about: food, safety, and loyalty to those who have shown him kindness. Over time, learning to communicate has deepened his ties with the party without altering his fundamentally guileless nature.
