TV-Series
Description
Chiyomi Ogawa is a female high school student and a classmate of the protagonist Tomo Aizawa. She is introduced as the best friend of another student, Naoko Mifune. Her appearance is notable for its gyaru fashion style, featuring bleached blonde hair often tied in a ponytail, with her natural black hair visible at the roots. She has tan skin and green eyes. Her middle school appearance was significantly more conventional, with short, dark hair and untanned skin, indicating a personal style change before the start of the series.
Chiyomi's personality is initially presented through the lens of her friend group. She and Mifune share an admiration for an upperclassman named Kousuke Misaki. This admiration leads them to feel jealous of Tomo, who spends a significant amount of time around him. Her speech is characterized by the frequent use of the filler word "like." When she and Mifune confront Tomo out of this jealousy, they are quickly intimidated by Tomo's overwhelming physical presence and confidence. Following this encounter, Chiyomi and her friend become somewhat reluctant allies of Tomo, who offers to help them get closer to Misaki, leading to a shift from rivalry to a form of friendship.
Her primary motivation, at least initially, revolves around her crush on Kousuke Misaki, which drives her to challenge Tomo. However, she does not have a major independent role in advancing the main romantic plot between Tomo and Junichirou Kubota. Instead, she functions primarily as a supporting character who is part of the wider school social circle, often appearing together with her best friend, Mifune.
Key relationships define her role in the story. Her closest relationship is undoubtedly with Naoko Mifune, with whom she shares most of her scenes. Together, they form a pair of friends who orbit the main group. Her relationship with Tomo begins with jealousy and confrontation but evolves into a friendly acquaintanceship after Tomo disarms their hostility and offers help. She is also present as Tomo attempts to get her and Mifune to interact with the eccentric Carol Olston, an effort that proves unsuccessful due to Carol's unusual behavior. She and Mifune also notice the more feminine side of Tomo when she blushes around Junichirou.
Chiyomi does not have notable combat abilities or exceptional skills highlighted in the story. Her role is largely social, serving as an example of a classmate who is initially antagonistic due to misunderstanding but becomes part of the supportive cast. Her development is subtle, marked primarily by her changing relationship with Tomo from a jealous rival to a friend. A specific incident that demonstrates her position in the narrative occurs when an upperclassman bully attempts to pressure her into dating him, and it is Tomo who defends her, showcasing the shift in their dynamic and Tomo's protective nature.
