Description
Bell Cranel is the main protagonist of the story, a young adventurer and the captain of the Hestia Familia. He is a teenager with distinctive white hair and red eyes, a combination that often draws comparisons to a rabbit. His typical attire consists of light armor, a brown coat with a small black patch, and a long-sleeved black shirt underneath.

Bell was raised in a remote mountain village by his adoptive grandfather, from whom he heard many tales of legendary heroes. These stories instilled in him a deep-seated dream of becoming a hero himself. After his grandfather's presumed death, Bell left his village and traveled to the sprawling dungeon city of Orario to make that dream a reality. Upon his arrival, he was rejected by many Familias before being warmly welcomed by the goddess Hestia, who had no other members, becoming the first and founding member of her group.

In terms of personality, Bell is fundamentally kind, sincere, and courageous, though he is also notably shy and easily flustered, particularly around women. He possesses a strong will and a stubborn determination to achieve his goals. One of his most defining traits is his trusting nature, which, while often leading him into trouble or causing him to be taken advantage of, also allows him to see the good in others, such as when he decided to help the supporter Liliruca Arde despite being warned she was untrustworthy. He is a terrible liar, a trait that forces those around him to keep secrets for his own good. While his initial motivation for becoming an adventurer was a naive desire to have a romantic encounter, this goal quickly evolves.

His primary driving force becomes his admiration for Ais Wallenstein, a first-class adventurer who saved his life early in his career. Bell fell in love with Ais at first sight and became deeply determined to grow strong enough to stand beside her as an equal. This powerful, single-minded feeling directly fuels his extraordinary growth. He also harbors a more classical ambition to be a hero, a goal he sometimes feels embarrassed about due to his age.

Throughout the story, Bell serves as the central figure whose actions drive the plot. He is the leader of the small but rapidly growing Hestia Familia, and his choices often put him at odds with the larger, more established powers in Orario. A key part of his role is challenging the status quo, such as when he chooses to protect the Xenos, a race of intelligent monsters, even when it makes him an enemy of the city.

His key relationships are central to his development. His bond with his goddess, Hestia, is one of deep familial love, though he is largely oblivious to her romantic feelings for him. His admiration for Ais Wallenstein is the catalyst for his strength and his entire journey as an adventurer. He forms a strong partnership with the blacksmith Welf Crozzo and the supporter Liliruca Arde, learning to trust and rely on allies. He also receives crucial training and guidance from other powerful adventurers like the elf Ryuu Lion.

Bell undergoes significant development from an inexperienced, naive rookie into a skilled and principled adventurer. Initially impulsive and relying on raw emotion, he learns to think more strategically and face adversity with greater resolve. His worldview expands beyond personal ambition as he takes on the responsibility of protecting his familia and fighting for his beliefs, such as the coexistence of humans and Xenos. He matures emotionally, learning to navigate complex moral dilemmas and even accepting rejection in matters of the heart while still vowing to protect the person involved. By the time he reaches Level 4, he has become more calm and balanced, treating his adventures with a greater sense of gravity.

Bell possesses several notable abilities granted by his falna. His unique skill Liaris Freese allows for rapid growth as long as his strong feelings, specifically his desire to catch up to Ais, persist. It also has a side effect of making him immune to charm abilities. Another skill, Argonaut, allows him to charge his attacks over time to unleash a massively powerful counterattack. His only magic is Firebolt, a quick-casting offensive spell he learned from a grimoire. Due to his rapid growth and consistently high stats, Bell possesses physical prowess, particularly speed and agility, that far exceeds what is normal for his current level, allowing him to fight evenly with more experienced adventurers. His fighting style is a fast-paced, dual-wielding technique that incorporates the teachings of his various mentors, including Ais and Ryuu.
