Description
Gojōno Kaguya is a character introduced in the fourth season of the anime Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, specifically appearing in flashbacks that detail the past of Ryuu Lion. She was an adventurer and the vice-captain of the Astraea Familia.

In terms of background, Kaguya was a descendant of the noble Gojou House from the Far East, a position that had her serve as one of the Imperial Court's soldiers. This life left her with deep scars, as she was sometimes forced to kill people whom she knew were not criminals, all on the orders of the Imperial Court. A formative tragedy occurred when she was twelve years old; a boy from the Rokujou family, for whom she had feelings, led a rebellion. When she refused to kill him, believing it was not justice, her patron deity, a Goddess of Beauty named Konohanasakuya-hime, used her Charm ability to force Kaguya to do so. After this incident, her goddess released her Falna, and Kaguya left the Far East behind. She eventually arrived in the labyrinth city of Orario and joined the Astraea Familia, having become fascinated with the goddess Astraea.

Kaguya's personality is marked by a strong contrast between her outward demeanor and her true nature. She initially presents herself as graceful and composed, speaking and acting in a manner befitting someone raised with tender care. However, this facade hides a personality that other members of her familia, like Ryuu, describe as foul-mouthed and unrefined. For instance, she was known to strip down to her underwear because of the heat without regard for the men present. This duality is a core part of her character. She was deeply devoted to Astraea and held a pragmatic, utilitarian view of justice, believing that it was impossible to save everyone and that one must prioritize saving the masses over the few. This philosophy was a constant source of argument between her and the more idealistic Ryuu.

Within the story, Kaguya serves as a pivotal figure in Ryuu Lion's backstory. She belonged to a generation of the Astraea Familia that rose quickly and gained fame, with Kaguya herself ranking up several times. She had reached Level 4 by the age of seventeen after participating in the defeat of Alfia during the Great Feud. Her role is defined by her sacrifice. Five years before the main events of the series, the Astraea Familia was trapped in the Dungeon by the Rudra Familia. The ensuing battle caused the birth of a Juggernaut, a monstrous creature that slaughters anything in its path. Kaguya, along with her captain Alise Lovell and another member named Lyra, made the ultimate decision to sacrifice themselves in order to finish off the monster and ensure Ryuu's survival.

Key relationships defined Kaguya's life. Her bond with Ryuu was complex, characterized by constant arguing over ideology yet a deep mutual respect and camaraderie. They would learn techniques from each other through their rivalry. Her devotion to her goddess, Astraea, was absolute. In terms of development, Kaguya's life was a journey from being a tool of a flawed justice system in her homeland to finding a new purpose and family in Orario. Her acceptance of her own dark past and her final choice to sacrifice herself for a comrade represent the culmination of her personal struggle with justice and morality.

Regarding her notable abilities, Kaguya, known by the epithet the Great Yamato Gentian, was a high-level adventurer and a master swordswoman. She specialized in iaido, the art of quick-draw sword fighting, and was known for her blindingly fast draw speed. She wielded several weapons, including a katana named Higanbana, which was famous for its god-speed draw, and a pair of kodachi (short swords) named Futaba. She possessed skills related to her iaijutsu, named Issen, Futaba, and Gokou. At the time of her death, her known stats at Level 3 included S rank in Dexterity and B rank in Magic, and she had developed abilities such as Night Battle and Abnormal Resistance.
