Description
Priest is a supporting antagonist in the animated film The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh. He is not a naturally occurring being but a creature created through the power of Deathpierce's Chaos Staff, which fused several of Deathpierce's prisoners with five Gray Demons. The result is a monstrous servant that Deathpierce keeps at his side as his right hand in Edinburgh, carrying out the tasks that serve his master's plans.

In terms of personality, Priest is defined primarily by his absolute loyalty to Deathpierce. He acts as an extension of his creator's will, appearing when Deathpierce needs an agent to strike at his enemies. He is not portrayed as having independent ambitions; his words and actions are consistently in service of Deathpierce's cause. His motivation stems from this created role, as his entire existence is bound to furthering his master's vengeance against the Demon and Goddess Clans for the injustices Deathpierce suffered years earlier.

Priest's main role in the story is to act as the instrument of Deathpierce's attack on the royal family of Liones. It is Priest who places a curse on Elizabeth, the queen, which manifests as a fatal illness that slowly consumes her. When her son Tristan attempts to heal her using his goddess powers, he is unable to break the curse, but he catches a glimpse of Priest's figure within his mother's mind and senses the curse's origin, which leads him to travel to Edinburgh. This sets the film's central conflict in motion, as Tristan's journey brings him face to face with Deathpierce's domain and, eventually, with Priest himself. In the climactic confrontation at Deathpierce's castle, Tristan and Lancelot battle both Deathpierce and Priest. When Tristan defeats Priest, the curse on Elizabeth is broken, and she makes a full recovery, arriving at Edinburgh alongside her allies shortly afterward.

Priest's key relationships revolve around his creator and his targets. His most significant bond is with Deathpierce, whom he serves faithfully as a subordinate and enforcer. His relationship with Elizabeth is that of victim and tormentor, as her affliction is the direct result of his curse. He also serves as an antagonist to Tristan, whose quest to save his mother leads to their clash, and to Lancelot, who fights alongside Tristan against him.

Regarding development, Priest is a relatively static character. He does not undergo a personal arc or change in allegiance; his purpose remains fixed until his defeat. His arc is instead functional, as his creation, his curse on Elizabeth, and his eventual fall at Tristan's hands all serve to advance the story and to demonstrate Tristan's growth in controlling and applying his powers.

Priest's notable abilities stem from his unusual origin. As a fusion of five Gray Demons, he possesses considerable demonic power and durability, making him a formidable combatant in battle. His defining ability, however, is his capacity for curse magic. He is able to place a powerful curse on a distant target, inflicting a life-threatening illness that resists healing, even from goddess powers wielded by a being of mixed heritage. The curse appears to maintain a connection to its caster, as Tristan perceives Priest's presence within Elizabeth's mind while attempting to heal her. This combination of demonic strength and potent curse magic makes Priest a dangerous foe and an effective right hand for Deathpierce until his defeat.
