Description
Origa Calmeria, sometimes romanized as Origa Carmelia, is a supporting character introduced in the second season of the anime The Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made. She is a young black cat beast girl, around eight years old, with short dark hair cut to ear length, orange eyes, cat ears, and a tail. She carries the epithet Twilight Assassin.
Her background is defined by slavery. Origa was a slave trained to work as an assassin, and she was sent to infiltrate the kingdom and assassinate King Winburg. At some point she cursed the character Ranze and fled from Ranze's castle. It was during this escape that she first encountered the protagonist Seiichi Hiiragi. She launched an attack against him, but Seiichi saw through her attempt, overpowered her, and captured her.
Instead of punishing her, Seiichi responded with kindness. He removed the slave collar she wore, treated her as an ordinary child, and gave her the gentle affection she had never experienced before. This affected her so strongly that she began to cry. Seiichi then invited her to stay with him and said he would always treasure her as a little sister, effectively adopting her into his family.
In terms of personality, Origa initially behaves as a hardened and obedient tool shaped by her life as a slave assassin. Once she is freed and receives kindness for the first time, she becomes warmer, more open, and more childlike. She is devoted and grateful toward Seiichi and enjoys the safety and affection of her new home, though the instincts of her assassin training remain a part of her.
Her motivations shift dramatically across her arc. While enslaved, she acted out of compulsion, following orders to carry out killings such as the assassination of King Winburg. After being freed, her motivation becomes staying close to Seiichi and living as part of his family in the role of his adopted little sister.
Her role in the story is that of a supporting figure whose subplot centers on rescue and the rebuilding of identity. She moves from being an abused outsider to a cherished member of Seiichi's household, and her presence highlights the theme of found family in the larger narrative.
The most important relationship in her life is with Seiichi Hiiragi, who acts as her savior and adoptive older brother. Through him she gains the family she never had. She also has notable connections to Ranze, whom she cursed before escaping, and to King Winburg, her intended assassination target, though these ties belong to her past rather than ongoing conflict.
As for abilities, Origa is a trained assassin with skills in stealth, infiltration, and combat, which allowed her to enter a royal palace and threaten dangerous targets. As a beast person, she has cat-like traits such as agility and keen senses, and her cat ears and tail mark her beast nature. She is also connected to the curse placed on Ranze, indicating an ability to deliver or use curses. Despite her young age and small frame, she is a capable fighter, though her power is far below that of Seiichi, who defeated her easily at their first meeting.
Over the course of her introduction, Origa develops from a cold and defensive killer into a trusting and affectionate child who finally experiences love and belonging. Her arc is one of redemption through kindness, and she settles into the role of Seiichi's little sister within his growing circle of companions.
