Description
Badigadi is a major supporting character in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, recognized as the Immortal Demon King. He is a member of the ancient Immortal Demon Clan, a pure-blooded race with life spans stretching back millennia, and he formally rules over the Viegoya region on the Demon Continent. He is also the long-time fiancé of the Great Demon Emperor, Kishirika Kishirisu. Among the Seven Great World Powers, he is known to hold the rank of Fighting God when wearing his legendary golden armor.

Physically, Badigadi is an imposing and unforgettable figure. He is described as a giant with a muscular, towering frame. His skin is a striking jet black, reminiscent of obsidian, which is said to turn a brownish hue when he is drunk. He has long violet hair and is most notably distinguished by the six powerful arms that protrude from his torso. He has the ability to retract or adjust these arms, sometimes appearing with fewer limbs to modify his size or presence.

His personality stands in stark contrast to the menacing image his title and appearance might suggest. Badigadi is consistently cheerful, boisterous, and overwhelmingly friendly. His ideal life is one of endless wandering, dueling strong opponents for sport, and enjoying endless festivities with good food and alcohol. He approaches most situations with laughter and a carefree attitude, preferring camaraderie and celebration over the serious pursuit of power or glory. While other members of his clan are often considered simple-minded, Badigadi is noted for being relatively wise and reasonable, earning him the nickname Wise Demon King. He himself, however, uses the self-deprecating title of Stupid Demon King, claiming he is merely less foolish than his peers. Despite his jovial nature, his sense of life and death is vastly different from that of mortals; because of his immortality, he can treat combat and grievous injuries as trivial matters, sometimes laughing while being dismembered or attempting to kill a friend, knowing death is not a permanent state for them.

Badigadi's primary motivation appears to be the pursuit of a carefree and enjoyable existence. He is not a traditional ruler and rarely spends time administrating his territory, preferring to wander the world. However, his deepest and most enduring motivation is his love for Kishirika Kishirisu. It was his desire to protect her during the ancient Second Great Human-Demon War that led him down a tragic path. Seeking to change the tide of the war as a strategist, he was tricked by the mysterious being Hitogami. Following Hitogami's advice, he stole the cursed Fighting God Armor. Donning the armor caused him to lose his sanity, and in his berserk state, he fought the Dragon God Laplace to a standstill but tragically killed his beloved Kishirika with his own hands. This event left a deep scar on his history, and he later learned he had been nothing more than a puppet for Hitogami.

In the present timeline of the story, Badigadi's role becomes more direct. Hearing his fiancée speak highly of the young mage Rudeus Greyrat, he travels to the Ranoa Magic Academy to challenge him. He effortlessly defeats a line of beast-race suitors waiting to fight Rudeus and issues his own challenge. The two engage in a duel where Badigadi allows Rudeus to strike him with his strongest magic; Rudeus succeeds in obliterating the upper half of the demon king's body. True to his nature, Badigadi immediately regenerates, laughs heartily, concedes defeat, and then punches Rudeus unconscious for fun. Following this event, he enrolls in the academy as a special student, much to everyone's shock, though he eventually leaves just as mysteriously as he arrived. Later in the story, he returns as a significant antagonist, having become an apostle of Hitogami to repay a perceived debt, donning the Fighting God Armor once more and declaring himself an enemy of the Dragon God Orsted.

Badigadi's key relationships define much of his history. His relationship with Kishirika Kishirisu is his most important; his love for her is the driving force behind his greatest triumphs and his most terrible mistakes. He also has a deep bond with his sister, Atofe, another powerful immortal demon. Despite being manipulated by Hitogami, Badigadi holds a complex perspective, feeling a sense of obligation that leads him to assist the human god later in the story. His brief but impactful rivalry and friendship with Rudeus begin with a duel at the academy, where he gains respect for the young mage's power.

As a member of the Immortal Demon Clan, Badigadi possesses an almost absolute form of immortality. He can regenerate from virtually any wound, even reforming his body after being blown into countless pieces. His black skin is incredibly durable, requiring the offensive power of a King-ranked swordsman to even be scratched. He once consumed a potion that makes him completely invisible to all forms of Demon Eyes, meaning those who rely on such abilities cannot see or predict his movements. In combat, he relies on a brutal, instinctive style, using his immense strength and six arms to overwhelm opponents without formal technique. His most formidable ability comes from the Fighting God Armor, a golden set of armor that grants him immense power, near-total magic immunity, self-repair capabilities, and access to a library of thousands of combat techniques. When fully possessed by the armor, Badigadi becomes the Fighting God, the third-ranked entity among the Seven Great World Powers, a force strong enough to fight and split the original Dragon God Laplace into two beings. However, without the armor taking full control, his technique and speed are notably lower, and his primary advantage remains his tireless, immortal body that simply refuses to stay down.
