Description
Misato Kuroi is a supporting character in the Gojo's Past Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, set twelve years before the main story. She is a jujutsu sorcerer assigned as the personal caretaker and protector of Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel destined to merge with Master Tengen. The Kuroi family has traditionally served the Star Plasma Vessel for generations, but Misato initially disliked that expectation and attended junior college, taking ordinary work before eventually accepting her role.

Her personality is defined by deep kindness and unwavering loyalty. She treats Riko not as a charge but as a beloved family member, acting as a mother figure who provides emotional support and genuine affection. Misato's primary motivation is to keep Riko safe and allow her to live as normal a life as possible before the merger. She is fiercely protective, willing to put herself in danger to shield Riko from harm.

In terms of abilities, Misato does not possess an innate cursed technique. However, she has trained in basic cursed energy control and hand-to-hand combat to defend Riko. Her weapon of choice is a broom, which she uses effectively in combat, once severely injuring a curse user who employed the Five Split Body technique. Despite her lack of a special-grade power, she is resourceful and determined.

Her role in the story is central to the emotional weight of the Hidden Inventory arc. She accompanies Riko, Gojo, and Geto during the mission to protect the vessel. When the Sorcerer Killer Toji Fushiguro attacks, Misato stays behind to try to stop him while Riko is taken to safety. She is killed by Toji, a death that deeply affects Riko and contributes to the tragedy of the arc. Later, in Gojo's final moments, Misato appears alongside other deceased characters in an afterlife scene, confirming her death.

Her key relationship is with Riko Amanai, whom she loves as a daughter. She also interacts with the young Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, though her connection to them is professional rather than personal. Misato does not undergo significant development over the course of the series, as her arc is brief and ends with her sacrifice. Her presence serves to illustrate the innocence lost in the brutal jujutsu world and the cost of protecting those who cannot defend themselves.
