Risa Shimizu is a Japanese actress and voice actress affiliated with the agency VOICE KIT. She was born on September 9, 1988, in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Shimizu began her career in entertainment at a very young age; she was scouted as a baby model when she was just ten months old. Following in the footsteps of her parents, she joined the Himawari Theatre Group at the age of four, starting her career as a child actor. She is a graduate of the Kunitachi College of Music, where she majored in vocal performance in the department of music.

Shimizu's voice acting debut came in 1999 with the Japanese-language dubbing of the Disney animated film The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. While she has had numerous roles in original Japanese animation, a significant portion of her early career and ongoing work is in the field of foreign language dubbing, providing Japanese voices for live-action films and television series. Her talent for this type of work is widely recognized, and she is the regular Japanese dubbing voice for several prominent international actors, including Emilia Clarke, Emma Watson, Lily Collins, and Ariana Grande.

In the realm of anime, Shimizu has built an impressive and varied portfolio. She has taken on leading roles in major franchises, such as voicing Kokone Fuwa, also known as Cure Spicy, in the 2022 television series Delicious Party♡Precure and its subsequent film adaptation. She has also contributed to the Star Wars universe, playing the role of Ocho in the Lop & Ochō episode of the animated anthology series Star Wars: Visions. Her other notable anime roles include Mattea Farah in Lupin the Third Part 6, Maiko Maya Stronskaya in Psycho-Pass 3, and Arlette Armaju in the Mobile Suit Gundam Twilight AXIS series. She also voiced Narumi Hikizuri in the Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre anthology.

Beyond anime and dubbing, Shimizu is also highly active in the video game industry. She has provided the Japanese voice for major characters in numerous high-profile titles. Some of her most notable game roles include the female protagonist V in Cyberpunk 2077, the main character Cassandra in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the character闪灵 (Shining) in Arknights, and the Divine Heir in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Her versatility allows her to move between animated roles for children, serious dramatic parts in mature series, and major performances in blockbuster video games. Throughout her career, Shimizu has also demonstrated her musical talents, which align with her formal education, by performing theme songs for some of her series and participating in related live concerts, such as the All Precure 20th Anniversary Live.
