Description
Aoi Todo is a third-year student at Kyoto Jujutsu High and holds the rank of grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer. He comes from a non-sorcerer family and was taken on as a disciple by the special grade sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo during his childhood after she was impressed by his abilities. A defining physical feature is the large scar running down the left side of his face, which he received from harsh training with Yuki. He stands approximately 190 centimeters tall, possesses a heavily muscular build with tan skin, and has black hair usually tied into a top-knot bun with distinctive flyaway strands. His birthday is September 23, 2000.
Todo is characterized by an exceptionally eccentric and flamboyant attitude. He is a self-proclaimed battle maniac who revels in the thrill of combat and has a habit of posing and showing off his physique. Despite this brutish exterior, he is highly intelligent and strategic, possessing a profound understanding of jujutsu and a philosophical side. One of his most notable quirks is his obsession with his favorite pop idol, Nobuko Takada, frequently bringing her up in conversation. He hates being bored more than anything else and has little patience for people he deems uninteresting. Todo has a peculiar method of judging a person’s character by asking what their type of woman is, a practice he inherited from Yuki Tsukumo. When Megumi Fushiguro gives a vague answer about liking compassionate people, Todo deems him boring and immediately attacks him. His reaction changes dramatically when he asks Yuji Itadori the same question during their fight at the Kyoto Goodwill Event. Upon hearing that Yuji also likes tall girls with large builds, Todo experiences a fabricated memory where Yuji consoles him over a rejection from Takada-chan. From that moment on, Todo genuinely believes they are best friends and refers to Yuji as his brother. This bond drives Todo to disregard orders to kill Yuji, instead becoming his mentor and helping him master the flow of cursed energy and the Black Flash technique.
Before the Goodwill Event, Todo had a reputation for defeating five grade 1 cursed spirits and one special grade curse during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons in Kyoto. During the Shibuya Incident, he arrives to rescue a psychologically broken Yuji from the cursed spirit Mahito. He delivers an impassioned speech that convinces Yuji to continue fighting as a jujutsu sorcerer, emphasizing that sorcerers honor the dead by continuing their fight. Their tag-team battle against Mahito showcases Todo’s tactical genius and unwavering loyalty. To prevent Mahito from transfigured his soul, Todo severs his own left hand. Because his innate technique, Boogie Woogie, requires a clap to activate, the loss of his hand seemingly renders him unable to use his technique, forcing him to withdraw. However, Todo returns during the final battle against Ryomen Sukuna. He has replaced his missing hand with a vibraslap, a percussion instrument. By striking it, he creates a clapping sound, effectively restoring and upgrading Boogie Woogie to perform approximately fifty swaps per second, making his support abilities more powerful than ever as he aids Yuji and the other sorcerers. Todo is also a master of hand-to-hand combat, possesses superhuman strength and speed, and knows Simple Domain, an anti-domain technique he learned from Yuki Tsukumo.
