Description
Gridman is a Hyper Agent, a being from another dimension known as the Hyper World. He is fundamentally an energy entity without a fixed physical form, requiring a merger with a human host to materialize and fight effectively. His purpose is to pursue and defeat threats that invade other worlds, including the computer world and alternate realities, to protect the innocent.

Gridman is heroic and dedicated to his mission of protection. He is supportive of his human partners and allies, encouraging them even in trivial matters and trusting them deeply. He can occasionally be awkward in social situations, which forces his human allies to cover for him when he interjects unexpectedly. A core aspect of his character is an acknowledgment of his own weakness; he cannot fight on his own and relies entirely on the strength and courage of the people who stand with him. This humility and reliance on others form the bedrock of his identity as a hero.

A key part of Gridman's story involves his partnership with specific humans. He chooses a host by sensing a strong, good-hearted wish within them, such as the desire to protect someone. In the narrative of the Gridman Universe, after a severe defeat by the enemy Alexis Kerib, Gridman was shattered into fragments. His primary fragment resided within his partner, Yuta Hibiki, suppressing both of their memories in the process. Other fragments of his being manifested as separate entities, known as the Neon Genesis Junior High Students, who can transform into powerful Assist Weapons. His core mission becomes recovering these fragments and confronting the source of the kaiju attacks. Throughout the story, his relationship with Yuta deepens from a necessary partnership to one of profound mutual trust and even guilt, as Gridman had unknowingly been inhabiting Yuta's body and life. In the final battle against the villain Mad Origin, the roles reverse, and Gridman finds himself needing to be saved by the very people he swore to protect.

Gridman's capabilities are vast and varied. His most iconic attack is the Grid Beam, a destructive energy blast fired from his Accepter device. He also possesses the Fixer Beam, a unique ability that restores and repairs damage to both computer systems and the hearts of humans. He can use Grid Kinesis to free individuals from external influences. A fundamental ability is Size Change, allowing him to grow to a giant 70 meters to fight kaiju within computer worlds. Due to his fragmented state in the SSSS.GRIDMAN series, he initially manifests as a sluggish, purple-armored form called Initial Fighter. After an upgrade, he achieves the more agile red and cyan Primal Fighter. By combining with the Assist Weapons, he can access powerful combined forms such as the strength-focused Max Gridman and the ultimate Full Powered Gridman. In the film Gridman Universe, he attains his ultimate form, Universe Fighter, a white-armored evolution, and can combine with Dynazenon and Big Golburn to become the even more powerful Rogue Kaiser Gridman. Other notable techniques include the Grid Light Saber, a Super Conductivity Kick, and flight capabilities.
