Description
Chizuru Akaba is a central character in the Student Council's Discretion Lv. 2, serving as the secretary of Hekiyou Academy's student council. She is a third-year student with a tall, model-like stature, standing at 170 cm, and has a slim build. Her appearance is marked by long, waist-length straight brown or dark brown hair, which she usually wears down, and sharp violet eyes. Her birthday is November 22nd, and she has AB blood type. Chizuru typically presents a facade of a cool, mature, and serious young woman, carrying herself with a certain elegant yet slightly gloomy aura. However, this composed exterior masks a pronounced sadistic and manipulative personality. She openly refers to her tendency to employ psychological control, which she terms brainwashing, particularly on her fellow council members Ken Sugisaki and Kurimu Sakurano.
At her core, Chizuru is a hard worker and highly intelligent, often acting as the strategic mind of the student council. She is an avid reader with sharp intellect, and her knowledge extends to practical areas such as financial markets, as she is shown advising on stock prices. Despite her frequently stern demeanor, she has a hidden softer and more playful side. This is most famously demonstrated when she occasionally embraces a cutesy persona, hopping around in a sheep costume while making a distinct "mokyu" sound. She dislikes overly sweet foods but favors cheese, and notably struggles with waking up in the mornings, often seeking out Kurimu to cuddle while still half-asleep.
Her role in the story is defined by her position as the one who keeps the often chaotic student council functioning, frequently by taking control of situations with a firm hand. Her personality is largely a product of a difficult past. During middle school, Chizuru was the victim of bullying from a former friend named Kanade Mayashiro, an experience that left her deeply traumatized and withdrawn. Upon entering Hekiyou Academy, she isolated herself from others. It was the persistent and cheerful efforts of the student council president, Kurimu Sakurano, that eventually broke through Chizuru's emotional walls. This event forged their intensely close bond, during which Kurimu nicknamed her Aka-chan, while simultaneously catalyzing Chizuru's development of her sadistic tendencies as a defense mechanism.
Her relationship with Kurimu is one of the most significant in her life. Chizuru constantly showers the petite president with affection, cuddling and hugging her, yet this is mixed with a form of sisterly abuse where she teases and dominates Kurimu. Her connection with Ken Sugisaki, the sole male member of the council, is more complex. They first met in autumn when Ken was suffering from a broken heart, and their conversation helped heal his emotional wounds, as well as her own lingering traumas. Throughout the series, she habitually calls Ken her slave and even sets his ringtone to repeatedly play the words my slave. Despite her domineering language, underlying romantic feelings for him gradually surface. These feelings cause her normally controlled exterior to crack, making her visibly nervous around him. In a Valentine's Day episode, her attempts to give him chocolate lead to a complete breakdown, causing her to speak in a robotic manner and socially withdraw before finally tying him up to awkwardly present her gift. She also exhibits strong jealousy when other girls interact with Ken.
Beyond her primary role as secretary, Chizuru has a few notable abilities and quirks. She is hinted to hold several part-time jobs despite being legally too young for most, and in light novel side stories, she even works as a detective. Her name itself carries symbolic weight, as Chizuru can mean thousand cranes, referencing the Japanese legend that folding a thousand origami cranes grants a wish, while Akaba translates to red leaves, cementing her association with the melancholic elegance of the autumn season.
