Description
Hanzō Urushihara, originally Lucifer, is a fallen angel and former archangel who served as a general for the Demon King Satan. Born the "original sin" to angelic beings Ignora and Sataniel, he belonged to the second generation of angels after their home world's destruction. Lucifer once held the highest rank among heaven's archangels, leading them until profound boredom with celestial existence drove him to abandon his duties. This fall from grace corrupted him, manifesting black wings and demonic traits.

Departing heaven, Lucifer traveled to the Demon Realm, influencing warring demon tribes without being considered a pure demon due to his angelic origin. He later allied with the young Satan Jacob (Sadao Maō) to unite the demon realm, agreeing he could kill Satan if his leadership grew dull. During the Demon Army's invasion of Ente Isla, Lucifer conquered the Western Continent, using his heavenly knowledge against the Church. His campaign burned villages and fields, including Sloan Village, resulting in the death of Nord Justina, father of the hero Emilia Justina. Emilia defeated him, impaling him with her sacred sword, though he survived.

Secretly rescued by rogue Archbishop Olba Meyer, Lucifer formed an alliance to eliminate the Demon King in exchange for promised reinstatement to heaven. Pursuing Sadao Maō and Emilia to modern Tokyo, he adopted the human alias Hanzō Urushihara, fabricated as an 18-year-old. On Earth, his powers diminished greatly, requiring absorption of negative human emotions to regain strength. He committed nighttime muggings with Olba to harvest this energy while hiding in an abandoned classroom. After a failed ambush against Sadao, Ashiya, and Emilia—which briefly restored Sadao's powers—Lucifer was defeated. Olba was turned over to authorities, but Lucifer was forced into seclusion at Sadao and Ashiya's apartment to avoid arrest.

As Urushihara, he presents as a frail adolescent with purple hair, violet eyes, standing 155 cm tall. He typically wears casual clothing: a white-and-purple shirt, rolled trousers, blue sneakers, and sports two purple ear piercings per ear. His personality is predominantly lazy, cunning, and childish; he avoids chores, spends excessive time gaming or online, and exhibits social awkwardness and a short temper. He self-identifies as a recluse (hikikomori) and is often treated dismissively. Despite this, he demonstrates hidden depth through occasional serious actions, such as selling his computer hard drive to help with household debts—though this backfired, increasing their financial strain—or aiding the group in critical situations. His primary motivations are avoiding boredom and seeking enjoyment, yet he retains residual loyalty to companions.

Urushihara possesses extensive technical aptitude, excelling at hacking, programming, and electronics, which Sadao exploits for research on regaining their powers. His online shopping for games strains their finances. His abilities include flight via black wings, firing explosive energy projectiles, and detonating feathers remotely. He exhibits exceptional endurance, surviving Sadao's combat magic and Emilia's sacred sword. Uniquely among demons, he retains latent holy power: consuming Suzuno Kamazuki's celestial force-imbued food temporarily restores his white wings and enables holy spells like Farlight Dazzle for enhanced vision. He has allergies to dust and cats, and experiences motion sickness.

Over time, Urushihara integrates reluctantly into the human world. He occasionally leverages his former archangel status, such as commanding lower-ranking angels during confrontations. His relationship with the group remains contentious but evolves into uneasy coexistence, marked by moments of cooperation amidst persistent laziness and self-interest.
