Ginka Shijunana is a retired vampire hunter. Having spent her youth in a secret war against vampires, she and her comrades finally achieved total victory, wiping every last bloodsucker from the world. Now, she wants only one thing: to live as a normal high school student and experience the everyday life she was never allowed to have. Unfortunately, years of combat have left her with almost no social skills, and her blunt, awkward demeanor makes her an outcast on her first day.

Her unlikely savior is Ruka Moriki, a flashy and fashionable gyaru who embodies everything Ginka does not understand about modern teen life. Ruka is outgoing, kind, and socially brilliant, and she takes the strange new girl under her wing. The two hit it off, and for the first time, Ginka begins to learn how to navigate friendships, makeup, and the mundane challenges of high school. The narrative is told primarily from Ruka's first-person perspective, showing how this seemingly frivolous gyaru genuinely cares for her new friend.

Just as Ginka starts to believe her peaceful new life is possible, remnants of her old one begin to reappear. Vampires were not as extinct as she thought. As these deadly creatures resurface, Ginka is forced back into the darkness, and Ruka is inevitably pulled along with her. However, Ruka is far from a helpless victim. Her unique gyaru philosophy, summed up in the belief that makeup is freedom, becomes an unexpected asset. She begins to blend her own worldly knowledge with Ginka's combat techniques, fighting back against the supernatural in her own way, proving that she and the former hunter make a formidable team.
