Taichi Arima is an overworked office worker living a humdrum existence when one night he attempts to save a mysterious white cat from being run over, an act of kindness that costs him his life. The white cat is revealed to be a deity in disguise, and as a reward for his selfless act, the divine being grants Taichi a second chance in a magical fantasy world along with incredible cheat skills and a rare Tamer class. While most would use such powers to become a legendary adventurer, the homebody Taichi has a very different dream. He uses his new taming abilities to open the Fluffy Café, a cozy establishment where the people of this new world can come to safely interact with the adorable, fluffy, and sometimes monstrous magical creatures he befriends, hoping to bridge the gap between beast and man over a cup of coffee.

The central character is Taichi Arima, a reclusive former salaryman whose primary motivation is not glory or power but the simple pleasure of relaxing in the company of soft, furry animals. The story is set in a fantasy world populated by magical beasts, where Taichi uses his taming skills to gather a growing menagerie of companions for his café. The narrative arcs primarily follow Taichi as he establishes his unconventional business, discovers new creatures to befriend, and builds a peaceful life for himself, all while the locals grow curious about the strange man who prefers petting monsters to fighting them. The story focuses on the heartwarming daily interactions between Taichi, his animal companions, and the customers who visit the café, with the overarching conflict being the simple challenge of running a successful business and caring for his fluffy charges in a foreign land rather than any epic battle against evil. The light novel, written by Punichan with illustrations by Tobi, was released in English by Seven Seas Entertainment beginning in April 2026.
