Description
Prince Cecil of the kingdom of Alfostar is a genius, but his extraordinary abilities have made his life profoundly boring. Nothing challenges him or captures his interest. This all changes when he becomes engaged to Bertia, the daughter of the Chancellor. From their first meeting, Bertia makes a startling declaration: she has memories of a past life in which this world was an otome game, and she is destined to be the villainess. She insists she cannot marry Cecil because she must make way for the game’s heroine, Heronia, and fulfill her role as an antagonist.

Rather than being put off, Cecil is intrigued. He decides to observe his peculiar fiancée, who earnestly attempts to commit evil deeds, only to have them backfire spectacularly and result in acts of kindness. For the first time, Cecil finds life amusing. As Bertia desperately tries to follow what she believes is the game's script, Cecil uses his intellect to work behind the scenes, not only to prevent her from succeeding in her misguided schemes but also to avert the tragic events she recalls from the otome game. For example, when Bertia mentions that a plague will kill her mother, driving her father to evil, Cecil quietly ensures the plague never happens, thus altering the story's course.

The central conflict arises from Bertia’s rigid belief in a preordained future and Cecil’s determination to prove that their world is real and not bound by a game’s narrative. As the official start of the otome game approaches, the true heroine, Heronia, appears. However, due to Cecil’s interventions, the game’s plot is already unrecognizable. Bertia struggles to accept that her actions and Cecil’s love have created a new, happier path. The story’s climax involves the graduation ceremony, where Bertia expects her public downfall, but Cecil instead dramatically declares his love for her. The series concludes with the couple marrying and looking forward to their future, demonstrating that reality has triumphed over fiction.

A sequel series, Observation Records of My Wife, continues the story six months after the wedding, following the couple as they navigate married life and encounter a new narrative from another story Bertia remembers from her past life.
