Description
In the popular VRMMO game Dimension Wave, players can experience several years of game time within a single day of reality. A boy who loves slow-life simulation games receives an invitation from his sisters, who won entry to the project's second wave. However, when he dives into the game, his sisters have played a prank on him. Instead of the muscular fisherman character he intended to create, he transforms into a beautiful young girl with the embarrassing name Kizuna † Exceed.
Rather than letting this bother him, Kizuna decides to enjoy his second life at a relaxed pace. While most players rush to the front lines, he heads straight for the coast with a fishing rod in hand. His race is Spirit, a type of being whose soul energy or SP connects directly to their vitality. As he explores the game world, he gathers a party of colorful companions. These include his older sister Kanade and younger sister Tsumugi, a Japanese-style beauty named Shouko Hakoniwa who was abandoned by her previous party after her energy dropped too low, and Yamikage the fake ninja who uses dark magic. The group focuses on fishing, exploration, crafting, and gradually developing the uninhabited Cal Mira island.
The first wave concludes with Kizuna and his party returning to their laid-back sea voyage. A storm traps them in an inescapable map called the Sea of No Return, where their boat gets drawn toward a massive haunted pirate ship. While searching the vessel, Kizuna falls overboard and drifts alone to a deserted beach. He must learn to survive on the island alongside mysterious creatures called Pekkles.
After completing development of Cal Mira island, the party arrives at the newly opened land of Mikakage. Kizuna struggles to balance his love of fishing with adventuring alongside his comrades. He receives a message calling him back for a fishing quest with substantial benefits, and Romina upgrades his fishing gear. With the construction of an aquarium and new items that help manage his time, the world of fishing continues to expand.
As Kizuna continues honing his fishing skills, he eventually fulfills the conditions for obtaining one of only twelve Unique Skills in the game called Hunting Gear. This skill dramatically increases his combat power and provides weapon transformation abilities, though it carries the drawback of reducing damage against humanoid enemies by ninety-nine percent. He also gains the ability to summon various types of Pekkles for different purposes.
The party faces major events including a Demon Lord Invasion. Afterward, they focus on clearing unfinished quests and side content involving cooking, fossil excavation, and spending time with friends. When Kizuna notices his sister Kanade entering a worn-down tent looking unwell, he discovers she has become homeless. The group continues preparing for the next Dimension Wave event, but Kanade along with other party members mysteriously disappear. Kizuna finds himself in the same frontier where his sister vanished, taking up farming, mining, and mentoring a disciple while searching for answers.
