Description
On Cybertron, the Autobots and Decepticons are locked in a civil war for control of the AllSpark, a legendary artifact that serves as the source of all Cybertronian life. As the conflict reaches a critical point, the Autobots decide to launch the artifact into space to keep it out of Megatron's reach. The AllSpark travels across the galaxy until it crash-lands on Earth. Millions of years later in the present day, its presence on the planet is discovered, reigniting the ancient war between the two factions as they both race to claim it.
The central conflict of Transformers: All Spark is a retelling of the original Generation 1 cartoon storyline, but with a notable visual twist. While the events on Earth reflect the classic G1 character designs, the flashback sequences set on Cybertron depict the Autobots and Decepticons using their body designs from the War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron video games. This fusion of aesthetics was intended to promote the Japanese Generations toyline, merging the iconic look of the 1980s series with the more angular, armored designs of the Aligned continuity family.
The story follows the traditional narrative beats of the original series. The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, arrive on Earth and befriend human allies such as Spike Witwicky, whom they rescue from a Decepticon attack at an energy plant. Their mission is to protect the AllSpark and prevent the Decepticons from using its power to conquer the universe. The Decepticons, under the command of Megatron, employ various strategies to steal the artifact, leading to battles across the planet.
The manga serialized in Kerokero Ace magazine, with the first chapter debuting in the November 2012 issue. The series concluded in the September 2013 issue, which also marked the final publication of Kerokero Ace. The complete story was later collected and released as a digital ebook volume in 2017 by Hero-X through DMM.com. The collected edition runs 433 pages, featuring art and story by Naoto Tsushima with coloring by Sayuri. The series contains 11 chapters in total.
