Description
In the Astragius galaxy, the Fourth Galactic War continues to rage thirty-two years after Chirico Cuvie and his companion Fyana entered cold sleep. Their capsule is recovered by a civilian resuscitation operation that salvages and revives soldiers frozen in these so-called cold coffins. Chirico regains consciousness, but Fyana remains in a state of suspended animation and is taken away by unknown parties.

Chirico’s awakening immediately triggers alarm across the Marteal Church, a powerful pan-galactic religious organization with followers in both the Gilgamesh and Balarant factions. Decades earlier, the Church had declared Chirico “The Untouchable,” a heretic who poses a fundamental threat to their doctrine of spiritual evolution through combat and struggle. As a being who does not seek power nor submit to it, yet possesses extraordinary survival abilities, Chirico cannot be controlled or killed. The Church had hoped he would remain frozen indefinitely.

Now that he has awakened, the Church must act. To eliminate him, they dispatch Teitania, a Nextant—the next generation of biomechanical weaponry that has evolved beyond the Perfect Soldier program that created Fyana. Teitania is a young woman whose body was rebuilt as a cyborg after a near-fatal accident, with an auxiliary brain implanted in her chest. Her father, Cardinal Viatcheslav da Montewells, is a candidate for the next Pope and sees the elimination of The Untouchable as a path to ultimate power within the Church’s hierarchy.

Chirico pursues Fyana across the industrial complex of Komplanto, a sprawling space station orbiting the planet Manaura. His search draws him deeper into the Vatican-like power struggles of the Marteal Church, where factions vie for control of the Holy See at Allegium. Teitania, sworn to destroy Chirico for her father’s ambitions, instead becomes fascinated by him after their first battle, in which he wounds her. A complex bond forms between the relentless former soldier and the engineered warrior who sees in him a reflection of her own artificial existence.

Fyana, it is revealed, has been living on borrowed time since the end of the original series. The Perfect Soldiers were never designed to live more than two years, and her extended survival has been a miracle of the cold sleep that preserved her. Full revival accelerates her deterioration. As Chirico races to reach her, he learns that he cannot save her life; he can only hope to be with her at the end.

The narrative follows Chirico’s violent journey through the Church’s territory, culminating in a confrontation at Allegium itself. Teitania, having turned against her father and the Church, fights alongside Chirico in a final battle. Fyana dies in Chirico’s arms after entrusting Teitania with the task of watching over the man who will now face eternity alone. The series ends with Chirico walking away from the Church’s scheming, still hunted, still unable to die, while Fyana’s capsule is once again released into space.

This arc represents a significant departure from the grounded military realism of the original television series, introducing overt religious and political conspiracies on a galactic scale. The story focuses less on Chirico’s actions than on how the Church and its agents react to his existence, with Teitania serving as the emotional center of the narrative. The conclusion proved highly controversial among longtime fans, as it permanently removes Fyana from the story and leaves Chirico in a state of perpetual isolation.
