Manga
Description
In a world where the endless battle between hero and villain is far sillier than anyone remembers, the peacekeeping robot Rock, also known as Mega Man, faces his greatest adversary yet: the complete and utter absurdity of his own creator. The story begins with Dr. Wily causing trouble once more, much to the naive shock of Mega Man, who had genuinely believed Wily's promise to stop. This sets the tone for a series of comedic episodes where Dr. Light is reimagined not as a noble genius, but as an eccentric, bumbling oaf whose harebrained schemes constantly backfire. When his robot dog Rush breaks down, Light slaps a helmet on a real dog and calls it Organic Rush, then immediately decides dogs are out of fashion and replaces it with a cat wearing a helmet. He invents robots with questionable utility, such as Comfy Chair Man, a sentient chair that becomes emotionally dependent on anyone who sits in its lap. Light also prioritizes assembling plastic model kits over answering emergency calls from the U.N. Chief and upgrades Mega Man’s slide ability by coating his backside with an ultra-slippery substance, sending him sliding uncontrollably across the entire city. The origin of Dr. Wily’s villainy receives a thoroughly undignified explanation. Rather than a dispute over scientific credit, the conflict stems from a college class where a cunning Dr. Light manipulated the professor into giving him control, only to pair himself with all the female students for group projects, leaving Wily and five other boys to work alone. This humiliation led them to form the Men’s Six, a grudge-bearing group whose fashion includes a t-shirt featuring a cheeseburger with the words More Please. Mega Man himself is portrayed as an innocent and earnest soul who wholeheartedly follows Dr. Light’s orders, even the questionable ones. His overwhelming compassion often interferes with his duties, such as when he spends too much time protecting a useless cat version of Rush and falls into an enemy trap. However, when Dr. Light finally commands him to open fire with his Mega Buster, he does not hesitate. Roll serves as the lone voice of reason in the laboratory, responding to the chaos with sarcastic commentary and logical assessments that only highlight the madness around her. Protoman makes cameo appearances, communicating solely through philosophical whistling. The narrative is structured as a collection of short episodes rather than a single continuous plot, allowing for a parade of unconventional Robot Masters including Visual Kei Man, Platform Man, and the prophetic Nostra-Man-damus. Even the infamous Bad Box Art Mega Man from the American game cover makes an unexpected appearance. Through it all, the manga plays the characters' innate traits to their most extreme and comedic conclusions, creating a version of the Mega Man universe where the commitment to heroism and genius is both wholehearted and utterly ridiculous.
