Description
A thirty-something office worker, unremarkable and unmarried, wakes up one day to find himself in an unfamiliar body. He has been reincarnated as Hanbei Takenaka, the legendary strategist who once served the unifier Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He is not alone. At the same moment, seven other modern Japanese men find themselves in a similar predicament, each reborn as various minor warlords scattered across Japan’s Warring States period. That night, they all awaken in a strange, empty white void where a single personal computer sits on a screen displaying a chat room labeled Tea Room. This digital space becomes their only lifeline, a meeting place where the reincarnated warriors can communicate across the battlefields of the Sengoku era.

The story follows this unlikely fellowship as they attempt to survive against some of the most formidable names in Japanese history, including the ruthless Nobunaga Oda, the cunning Ieyasu Tokugawa, and the legendary warrior Kenshin Uesugi. Without the protections afforded to major historical figures, their survival hinges on collaboration. Meeting monthly in the dream-like chat room, they share crucial intelligence and leverage their collective modern knowledge to navigate a world defined by constant warfare, political betrayal, and shifting alliances.

The protagonist, now possessing the mind of a modern salaryman and the body of the brilliant but frail strategist Hanbei Takenaka, must reconcile his old, unambitious life with the crushing pressures of his new role. His companions in reincarnation come from equally diverse walks of life: a former teacher, a lifeguard, a police officer, a homebound programmer, and even a former host club worker. As a teacher named Ido Yoshimasa, a policeman reborn as Hojo Ujiyori, and a doctor living as Kobayakawa Shigehira, each brings a unique skill set to the war room, strategizing not just with swords and spears, but with the logic and problem-solving skills of the twenty-first century. Key narrative arcs include the initial shock of the reincarnation, the struggle to establish trust among the eight strangers in the chat room, and early military campaigns such as the defense at Okehazama, where the lifeguard-turned-Imagawa Ujizane must hold his ground against the rising power of Tokugawa Ieyasu. As the reincarnated warlords intervene in the timeline, they begin to alter the course of history, forcing them to face the consequences of their meddling while fighting for a future where they, as minor players in a grand saga, can live to see another day.
