The spin-off manga Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan Another Side of Heroine shifts focus from the original series’ protagonist, Hodaka Saotome, to the distinctive female characters who surround him at Moteshiro Prefectural High School. While the main story follows Hodaka as the sole male student navigating a school with an extreme gender ratio, this spin-off, written and illustrated by Kurara Hashimoto from an original concept by Toshinori Sogabe, explores the untold daily lives, backgrounds, and personal moments of the heroines.

The setting remains the co-ed Moteshiro Prefectural High School, formerly an all-girls institution, where Hodaka enrolled to study fashion design. The core conflict of the original series stems from Hodaka’s struggle to fit in and the various romantic tensions that develop with the female students, particularly the delinquent Hanako Kuzuryu. The spin-off reexamines these dynamics from a different angle, offering humorous and warmhearted episodes that reveal the characters hidden personalities and the bonds they share away from Hodaka’s perspective.

As an official spin-off serialized in Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross magazine beginning in October 2024, the series delves deeper into the heroines’ lives. Hanako Kuzuryu, the titular Yankee, remains a central figure, balancing her fierce reputation and martial arts prowess with a surprisingly shy and sincere side. Other key characters include the seemingly proper but cunning class representative Kasumi Takae, the cheerful and direct Yuna Ushigome, and Hodaka’s childhood friend Madoka Tsuruhashi. The narrative arcs focus on slice-of-life scenarios, festival preparations, friendly competitions, and everyday school events, all told through the lens of the girls’ relationships with each other rather than solely through their interactions with Hodaka.
