Description
Ohkubo Kei Tanpenshū is a collection of five standalone short stories that showcase the range of the creator behind the historical manga Arte. The anthology brings together different genres and settings, from fantasy realms to historical dramas, each with its own set of characters and conflicts.

The collection opens with The Girl in the Workshop, the prototype story that would later inspire the series Arte. Set in the Italian Renaissance, this tale follows a young noblewoman who defies social conventions by becoming an artist's apprentice, establishing themes of pursuing passion against societal expectations.

A different tone is struck in Hammer Hammer, which focuses on the bond between a brother and sister from the dragon-folk, exploring identity and familial connection in a fantasy setting. Similarly, The Dragon's Bride presents an interspecies marriage involving a female commander, examining the blending of different worlds through wedlock. In Joste, a female knight enters dangerous combat jousts to earn enough money to repay her father's debts, combining action with economic desperation. The final story Artillery Expert Faust follows a young man who goes to war not for glory or country, but for the woman he loves, turning a battlefield into a stage for personal devotion.
