Manhwa
Description
Years after Sung Jinwoo, the Shadow Monarch, brought an end to the war with the Monarchs and saved humanity, the world exists in an uneasy peace. Dungeon breaks are no longer a daily catastrophe, and Jinwoo has stepped away from the spotlight to live a quiet life. However, this fragile calm is threatened by the emergence of a new, cosmic danger: the Itarim, god-like beings from other universes who seek to fill the power void left by the death of the Absolute Being, the creator of the original world.

With Earth once again in the crosshairs, Jinwoo is forced to leave his family to fight a solitary war against the Itarim in the outer universe. The story’s focus shifts to his son, Sung Suho, who has grown up as an ordinary high school and college student. To grant him a normal childhood, Jinwoo sealed Suho’s immense inherited powers and his memories of the shadow army. However, when a dungeon break occurs on his campus caused by a new type of monster called Mist Burn, Suho awakens as a Player of a mysterious System, just like his father before him. His journey officially begins with the mission "Courage of the Weak," a direct parallel to Jinwoo’s own origin.

Suho is rescued and guided by Beru, the ant king shadow, who was sent by Jinwoo to protect his son. Depowered from crossing dimensions, Beru acts as a mentor and exposition fairy, helping Suho navigate the system and the new threats. Unlike his father, who started as the weakest E-rank hunter, Suho inherits tremendous latent power but initially hides his abilities behind an E-rank classification. He is a brawler who prefers to fight with his fists, contrasting with Jinwoo's use of daggers. As Suho levels up, he assembles a party of allies, including the descendants of the former Monarchs, such as Esil (a descendant of the Monarch of White Flames) and the lizardman Ammut. His goal shifts to reaching his father and joining the war against the Itarim.

The narrative is structured into major arcs that expand the world beyond the original series. After establishing his abilities, Suho gets entangled with the revived Hunter’s Association and international guilds. A notable early sequence is the Black Market Arc, where Suho investigates the disappearance of his grandfather, Sung Il-Hwan. This leads him into conflict with the Outer God Cult, a human faction corrupted by the Itarim. In this arc, Suho recovers notable shadow soldiers from the past, including Iron and Greed, and confronts corrupted National Level Hunters. As Suho grows stronger, he undertakes a Job Change Quest to define his new path, as the System does not intend for him to become the next Shadow Monarch but something else entirely. This quest involves confronting a clone of himself, implied to be his counterpart from the web novel timeline.

Ultimately, Suho achieves the goal of reaching his father on the battlefield of the Outer War. He unites all the Monarch’s successors, trains with the former Monarch Antares, and finally ascends to become the Monarch of Transcendence and Guardian of the World Tree. In the final confrontation, Suho manages to defeat a fully manifested Itarim, absorbing its divine power to save Earth. The story concludes with Jinwoo, having held the line alone against multiple Itarim, being able to step back. A year later, the Sung family is finally reunited, and the series ends on a peaceful note, establishing that the new generation now stands beside the old to protect the world. The manhwa adaptation is currently in its early stages, chronicling Suho's rise.
