Description
After the Great Hyperspace Disaster scatters debris across the galaxy, young Jedi Knight Lily Tora-Asi is assigned to help displaced civilians relocate to the planet Banchii, a remote world in the Inugg system of the Outer Rim. Banchii is home to a new Jedi temple led by Master Arkoff, a calm and wise Wookiee who serves as Lily’s former mentor. He envisions the temple as a sanctuary for settlers and for those journeying beyond the Republic’s reach.
Lily struggles with self-doubt, haunted by nightmares of the Hyperspace Disaster and questioning whether she is doing enough to bring peace to the galaxy. She is responsible for training her Padawan, Keerin Fionn, along with younglings Nima Allets and VivNia NiaViv. The Jedi outpost also includes Archivist Ru Ru, a droid designated ZZ-10, and civilian physician Dr. Silar.
As the settlers establish new lives, strange mysteries emerge from Banchii’s wilderness. Lily and her companions discover a farmer transformed into wood, followed by an attack from the monstrous Drengir, a carnivorous plant-like species that spreads terror across the outpost. Lily must defend the settlement while confronting her own anxieties about the Jedi Order’s role in a galaxy facing growing threats.
In the aftermath of Starlight Beacon’s destruction, the Nihil advance across the Outer Rim, sealing systems behind the Stormwall. Lily defies the Jedi Council’s order to return to Coruscant and chooses to remain on Banchii, reestablishing the temple despite the escalating danger. After Keerin Fionn is lost, Lily must make peace with her grief and fear while continuing to protect the world she has sworn to defend.
A prequel story reveals events from over a century earlier, when the young Wookiee Jedi Arkoff journeys to Dalna to battle the Path of the Open Hand. During the fight, his longtime friend Jedi Knight Azlin Rell falls victim to an unseen dark side force, an event that will haunt Arkoff for decades. In the present, Azlin Rell resurfaces, and Master Yoda sends him to Banchii—accompanied by Jedi Knight Reath Silas—to help unravel mysteries connected to the Nameless and the Blight. As the Nihil scientist Niv Drendow Apruk approaches Banchii with his pet Nameless creatures, the Jedi face a convergence of dangers from the past and present.
