In Nagano Prefecture’s Matsumoto city, four first-year high school girls each carry a small but heavy emotional wound. Yoshino Nagawa is a cool, top-tier honors student who appears perfect but suffers from severe communication disorder, unable to talk to anyone except her older sister. Futaba Shirabe is an accident-prone, natural airhead whose constant failures have led her into a spiral of self-loathing. Kanae Sakanoshita sits near the top of the school social hierarchy, but her calculated, good-girl act makes her universally hated by her female classmates. Runa Fujimori is a former swimming prodigy now refusing to attend school after an injury derailed her future.

The four girls lives collide when they happen to share a powerful experience at a live punk rock festival. Inspired by the raw energy of the band A.R., Yoshino summons her greatest courage and proposes they form a band. Together, they establish the Minami-Matsumoto High School Punk Rock Club, using an old storage shed behind the gymnasium as their makeshift practice space.

Volume one establishes the band formation and the initial hurdles of learning instruments and simply being around each other. What begins as a project for lonely outsiders slowly transforms into genuine friendship, with the shared goal of performing on a live stage driving them forward.

Volume two follows the club’s activities becoming more serious. Under Futaba’s earnest leadership as club president, they set their sights on performing a mini-live at the school cultural festival. The story covers their early struggles, from buying instruments and covering rock classics to holding band meetings and intense summer practice. They achieve their first milestone with a successful street live, growing both as musicians and as a group. However, just as their performance for the culture festival comes together, a sudden crisis threatens to shatter the band from within, testing the fragile bonds they have worked so hard to build.
