Description
In a small town in an Asian country, young street racers gather nightly with their tuned cars, fueling a local tuning subculture. The town’s modest auto repair shop, Sakurai Motors, is run by Sakurai Tatsuji, a skilled mechanic who stubbornly refuses to take on tuning work despite the demand. His daughter, Sakurai Mahiro, disagrees with his policy and wants to expand the shop’s reputation by offering performance modifications. One night, she secretly photographs the RX-7 of the top local racer, Kurosaki Yuya, to gather tuning ideas, but his underlings surround her and start a confrontation. A passing drifter, Akabane Hayato, steps in to defend her. Hayato has extensive knowledge of cars and exceptional driving technique, yet he is a wanderer with no fixed destination. Impressed, Mahiro persuades him to work at Sakurai Motors. Initially reluctant, Hayato gradually becomes part of the team, and the shop begins attracting more customers. Kurosaki, angered by this rising competition, devises schemes to crush both Hayato and Sakurai Motors. As the conflict intensifies, Hayato’s hidden, shocking past comes to light, driving the narrative toward its climax. The story blends sports and slice-of-life elements within a seinen framework, exploring themes of family legacy, ambition, and the cost of speed.
